Demon sent me these pictures of his Altered. I'll let him give the details. Cool ride Tom!
I've had this car for a long time I had friend that grew up with as a
kid build the chassis for me Kenny at Ken Keir Race cars in Maryland.
I pick the chassis up in Jan. of 86 and got the car running in late
part of 87. I started out with a 340 S/B MOPAR and it ran 9.60s at
140. The 340 came out of my 72 340 DEMON ( I still got that car).
I ran it that way for a long time then up dated the engine and It ran
8.90s at 150. Then about 75 runs later the crank broke and killed
that 340. I started on another S/B Mopar that was going to have
better parts when I got a great deal on a race engine from a
friend that had a race engine shop builded in 91 and never got
put in a car it had 5 Dyno pulls on it. I knew the guys that builded
it and they all said it was a good motor. I know I'll get some smack
for this it's a GM engine. 416 S/B that makes 650H/P and it doesn't
have to turn high RPM's to run good. It now runs 8.20s at 160 1/4
mile a 5.20s at 130 1/8 mile best run was 8.16 at 164 the 60 foot
is 1.17. I broke some valve train parts in June of 07 so its been
parked till I fix that and do some up dates on the car. With a little
luck and some extra money I can get it running late this year. I'm
a bracket racer I have never run in Super Comp I just don't care
for throttle stop racing. Oh it's got a power glide trans Dana 60 rear
ladder bars and 115 inch wheelbase so I'm happy with a low 8
second car. I got some more to tell but I'll save them for later.
