Kim and I made it up to Bandimere's "Mile Hi Nationals" last weekend for Friday night qualifying . What a blast, we haven't been up to this event since 99' and after last weekend I'm sure we will be back next year. Records fell with the great conditions as Schumacher ran a 3.823 and J. Force laid down a 4.049 during Friday nights session. Who says Bandimere is a slow track? Pretty impressive for a track that is >5800' above sea level! Of course the naturally aspirated cars ~Pro Stocks were giving up about 4 tenths in the thin air. Here are a few pictures that we took.Everybody knows the Pro cars, I like taking pics of the cars you never see. I'll try and post more later.
These cars are cool but holy crap did the drivers have balls! Larry Morgan was busy busy with 2 cars but still had time time to chat. Ahhhhhhh Pro Stocks! Love how low they are.
another high light was meeting Tommy Johnson Jr. I've worked with his Uncle for over 18 years. My brother and his son also went to this event and as some of you know..... my nephew has cystic fibrosis and is a "make a wish" kid. TJ has a wrap on his F/C promoting this foundation. The foundation doesn't sponsor him so no money does not come out of what it was purposed for. When TJ found out that I knew his uncle and found out that my nephew was a MAW kid, he let us come back into their pits for pictures and to show my nephew around their trailers. Pretty cool considering it was spur of the moment.
