how many classes does HOPRA sanction? how big is their rule book. how big is their "club" in any case comparing any sort of drag racing with any sort of racing that slows down for corners is apples/oranges.
granted, changing rules frequently is not going to work. but, that is not the case here. folks have been within the prescribed rules for quite awhile and the spelled out classes pretty much remain the same. in my live racing, the rules I have about inline certainly does exclude all the chassis cozee mentioned for what I consider to be obvious reasons. my racers get it. this is a different venue than my tyrannical dictatorship on my track at my rented hall at my races. I ask for suggestions and act on them when I want. the desire for many classes with different values/specifics isn't meant to rebuild one chassis frequently. some guys have a few of each description built and ready to race at any given time. the purpose of different classes with different parameters is to allow folks to do what they do best. not every class is raced at every event.
questions are good, because it might be a parameter never before considered. and, sometimes answers to questions take a few days to formulate and let everyone be heard. so, let's mull these thoughts a little and continue this in a few days.

A newbee's 2 cents worth; I have found parts of the guide lines a little vague sometimes but when in doubt, I ask and have always gotten an immediate clarification. So, the guide line rules are working for me. I am definitely in the learning stage in this sport so building a car each time is an enjoyable experience for me. For an example; I was gonna pass on gnome's race because of wanting to spend time on my track build but looked thru my 'inventory' and found a couple tjets that kinda run so figured I better partake. Just gotta clean 'em up and maybe paint up a couple resin bodies if time allows. At this point in time, I figure, if I don't place last in qualifying, I did good, lol. All in all, I like the proxy racing as is. I just wish that more people with slower cars than mine would participate .

It is only apples to oranges if one refuses to open their eyes. The discussion wasn't about the number of classes sanctioned or how many members they have (far more than here for sure). Yes, you can be as tyrannical as you want when your event running your rules, if that so feeds your ego. Again, not the point of discussion as it is centered on NTRA rules and nothing but. If someone wants to have a race and run their own rules, then do so. With your reasoning, I hate to tell you but most of the classes being run under NTRA rules are being done so with cars/chassis NOT designed for drag racing. The vast majority are being tweaked to do so. That is obvious. Yes, some of the cars I mentioned were designed solely for Restricted Open, Open, and Unlimited class racing, yet others can be, and are run in Super Stock classes. and all of them can go through the same tweaking process as the current chassis/cars. No rules written that keep chassis legal at each NTRA umbrellaed race legal. Nothing but the discretion of the Race Director. Decosmo cars are glorified Tycos, as is the Slottechs cars . Decosmo also supplied front end bell conversions so one could use comm brushes if they so chose in a BSRT chassis. Your obviousness is diminishing here, sorry.

I didn't start this to thump chests about readily available, how other organizations are structured, or how long or what one has done in the hobby. I asked two questions (something I was told was encouraged) and following that, clarification. I will now do as I said, being new here, I will sit back, observe, participate as I have the cars to do so, and support however I can. No hard feelings on my part. I just don't want to cause any further disruption to the flow. A - B!

Interesting discussion, I will just speak about the Eagle carbon fiber chassis. When I sat down to design this chassis I had a few goals in mind. It had to fit just about any resin body wheel base, it does. It had to have adjustable traction magnets. Why? to be able to fine tune down force on any track without changing tires, it does. It needed to be easy to change for improvement, it is. As Alpink alluded to, the pillow blocks were a problem for him. Alpink bought the very first chassis. I immediately addressed that by installing brass bushings in the rear axle pillow blocks. Is it readily available, well I can't build them fast enough. So if your not in a hurry it is readily available. If you need it tomorrow it's not readily available. This is a one pony show. The motor I use is a N20 3 ohm built in China with poly magnets. I use this motor because it works great with just a walwart power supply. No fancy power supply needed. Is it faster than a BSRT, Viper, Slot Tech or Wizard. On paper it should get smoked by one of these cars. Why? because they are running more powerful motor magnets, a bigger armature with more rpm and torque. The N20 motor, I am using the motor mags are equal to power of Super G+ true ceramic motor magnets. Not the compression magnets they build now. Those are even stronger. I did not design the chassis to beat these guys. I built it to fit resin bodies easily. That being said Dave632 has said he would allow the Eagle chassis to race in his race. So for grins I will send one maybe two. So I says let's have some fun win or lose.

Let's end this discussion here with Eagle's promotional post. Questions have been asked and answered. Let's get ready for the upcoming Rewind on Woodward at Gnome's Motor City Raceway!

I'm pretty sure I'll have slower cars than about everyone in Gnome's upcoming race, so you have that to look forward to, lol.
