Gene Snow's Snowman, Tom Hoover's Showtime, Jeb Allen's Praying Mantis, Dale Pulde's War Eagle, Danny Picketts overland Express, Dale Tutors Quick Trip (before the store's of the same name.), Al Tschida's Cheetah, Loper's Lil Hoss, Poncho Rendon's Detroit Tiger (wonder were he got that name?), Bill Selly's High Plains Drifter, Lieberman's Jungle Jim, Ed "The Ace's" Revolution, Steve Pacou's Gateway Shaker, Doc Spence's Missouri Mule, Bob Sullivan's Pandemonium, Doug Thorley's Chevy 2 Much, The Ramcharger's ah... Ramchargers. I've forgotten the owner/driver of these two: Fugitive and Sunshine Boys. Another strange one is Richard Petty's "43 jr" (yes... that Richard Petty.) But a favorite of mine was Billy Graham's Million Dollar Baby (No... not that Billy Graham!). I booked Billy into SLIR 4 or 5 times and he raced his very clean AA/FC before the Million Dollar Bar candy bar came out or if it was out it was so new that there was no connection. Too bad, he could have used the money I'm sure. The guy also had the most teeth I've ever seen in a smile. Really nice guy. But... thanks for reminding me of the "War Eagle" name John. Now I know what's gonna be on my BB/FC in October.

NOSTALGIA DRAG CARS they are at top top of my list starting with FUEL ALTEREDS-AFX CARS and early FUNNY CARS. My NO. 1 car is the WINGED EXPRESS with WILD WILLIE driving what a ride. The Jackson Brothers have a DVD called BAD BOY ALTEREDS it deals with the early FUEL ALTEREDS very cool. TOM

I had a hard time deciding between Wild Willie, The Ace, Jungle and "THE BLUE MAX" and I had to go with the Blue Max because at the time I was running race tracks Raymond Beetle and Snake's Army car WERE funny car. You guys know how much I like the Army but the question was "What's a or the coolest name". When you booked the BLUE MAX in for a race, you had a crowd! Only other guy at the time that could do that was Garlits , but you lost some who wanted to see the hot thing at the time... funny cars. Same thing with Shirley. But women would not make their non-car guy, guy bring them to the track to see Shirley and the guys wouldn't necessarily come to see her. But for any car guy at the time, just say the Blue Max is going to be at the track and they were there. Same with Jungle a few years earlier. I bought SLIR the year Jungle died. I had met him and watched him race a few times but I don't remember if we booked him into the first Gateway Nationals we ran in 77. I also think dragsters lost some spectator appeal when they went back-motor. Not as squirrelly and the illusion of driving blind behind the blower was gone. The rear motor cars just "looked" easy to drive in comparison. Hard-nose fans would come but not the "thrill seekers". Another patented long answer to a simple question.
