I see TSS Hobbies listed in this post. As for my experience with TSS , I would say don't waste your time. Oh sure , they have a great list of decals on their website. But I have contacted them 4 times now about trying to purchace some of their decals , and got no response at all. So good luck doing business with them.

Caution... Friendly rant to follow:

Gentlemen, it's been a while since I've talked with anyone at TSS or bought anything from them, but I think I can guess what's happening with them. They appear to be "the" best running 1/24th scale facility going anywhere as far as running local races and suppling their local customers. This is just what I have gleamed from some of their publicity in HOT ROD magazine and on the Internet.

Having run a few businesses in my life, I know that TSS is probably going through a huge growth period. I know they doubled the size of their store last year. That means they must focus on what's making them the real money to pay their very real bills. They are probably working many, many hours and they have very significant store overhead, liability insurance, content insurance, inventory costs, phone, Internet and other advertising, payroll, taxes, taxes, taxes and now more taxes to contend with. While we all wish they would respond immediately to our request for our HO purchases, one 1/24th scale car can easily cost 4-5 times as much with 4-5 times as much markup for the same amount of time and work expended as selling us our HO car. It's why we don't see Super G Plus Dealerships in every town. Shoot, even GM and Chrysler are having problems doing that! But I digress.

I would bet that TSS very much wants to sell you what you need but they are not able to get it done due to too much business for the staff on hand. They currently probably aren't nearly as efficient as the guy who sells on ebay for an extra few bucks a month. I'm not saying they deserve our praise right now, just our understanding as being in business right now is not an easy thing and especially for an item that's discretionary income.

The business we own is growing again and we go through spurts where we have the absolutely best product and services anywhere. Then people use us, like what we've done and send their friends to us. If I can hire, train, increase inventory and space needs in relationship to our customers needs without extending our finances too far, I am then a hero to our customers and staff. If I screw anyone of those things up, I'm a jerk who shouldn't be trusted. It's just part of business life. I seriously doubt that the TSS staff is just sitting back eating bon bon's and raking in the big bucks. They are trying to run a business that I don't have the guts to get into as the margin of profit to costs and the fickleness of slot car sales history tell me "DON'T DO IT!" (caps required for correct emphasis.)

OK... I'll get off my soap box as I did say at the top that I "think" I know what they are going through... but I don't know for sure. Best luck to them with their business as I want all the automotive related hobby shops to succeed. (Don't give a dang about the flower and craft shops. )
