MY ride should be there, should have arrived on the 10th. and I just wanted to point out somerear tires rules,it says rear tires may not extend pass the fender lip,and about half the cars pictured the tires are way too wide and extend pass the fender lip by alot in my eyes!!! the two camero's are extreme, and so is the ramcharger car.thats alot of rubber for extra traction in my mind.super stock cars do not have huge rear slicks they are skinny usually, and i remember when i ran my car in super stock we were told you cant use really wide tires, and it was suggested that even Road race replicas had those skinny silicon tires with slot rims and that those were like super stock.iam sorry but i think with the size of the rim and tire is more weight and will have better traction.not to mention the weight issue,of the rear rims, when most of us are using plastic rims, thats more weight in the rear for them. Just my opinion Guys ,if we are going to have rules lets inforce them.

Here is the NTRA rule on Super Stock rear tires:
"REAR tires of legal dimensions (.215) MAY EXTEND beyond the body confines provided such extension is not excessive. (No more than 1/8” IS RECOMMENDED)"
Seems pretty straightforward to me.

One thing to remember guys is that they are photos and it is impossible to know what size tires they actually are. Yes, they look big in the photos but I have no doubt that they are within the legal limits. Remember these are Tjets which are something like 1/87 scale? Any tire over .420" is going to look out of proportion. We have rules that allow up to .460" which some like to run. Aluminum wheels are also legal in this class. Tires can hang outside the body 1/8" (see rules below)
Good observation Scott and I can assure you that the hosting track tech officials will be sizing up the tire sizes on all cars along with the other tech duties. .
SUPERSTOCK CLASS:
Armatures: Permitted blueprinting includes the following: Air gapping (making the armature concentric to the shaft) Balancing by adding or removing material, and Surfacing of the commutator. Armatures may not be otherwise tampered with in any way. Specifically prohibited are rewinding, dewinding,*** and retiming of armatures. Axles: Any axle is permitted. Axles must ride in appropriate stock location for given body style.
Body: Air-scoops will be permitted as long as they don’t exceed the DODGE HEMI DART scoop in size and profile. Modern "Pro-Stock and Pro-Mod scoops are not permitted nor are injector 'hat' inductions permitted. Scoops of early pro-stock "boxes" or snorkels will not be permitted. Scoops should have a factory type appearance. Also permitted are Ford type 'hood blisters." (This air scoop lenience is permitted because of different year/rule allowances by NHRA.) Cowl induction hoods are permitted but should not be extreme in size and should assume a typical "factory" installation. Cartoon-like appearances are not accepted. Body posts may be modified to lower, raise or rake body, especially to clear Approved race tires. (See below) Such Tires MAY extend beyond the body lines provided such extension is not excessive. (No more than 1/8” is RECOMMENDED. Re-arcing, re-arching or re-profiling of rear fender wells is permitted to clear approved racing tires. Rear body position mounting must not be lower than stock if said wheel well trimming is employed. The inner fender area may be sanded as needed to clear approved racing tires. Bodies must employ both mounting screws and shall be full and complete as produced. Resin replica bodies are permitted. In order to provide competitive parity to resin-type bodies……bodies may be lightened by sanding or grinding the inner surfaces. Such grinding or sanding shall not affect the car’s normal on track appearance.
Tires: ANY REAR TIRE READILY AVAILABLE THROUGH RETAIL OUTLET (STORE OR INTERNET) NOT EXCEEDING A DIAMETER OF .460 NOR A WIDTH OF .215 SHALL BE LEGAL FOR SUPERSTOCK COMPETITION
THE DIMENSIONAL LIMITS OF .460 X .215 APPLY TO THE MOUNTED, COMPETITION READY TIRE/ WHEEL SET
EXCEPTIONS TO the ‘ANY TIRE RULE’ ARE FOAM, AND/OR SILICONE COATED FOAM, AND/OR ANY COATED FOAM TIRE, ALL OF WHICH ARE NOT LEGAL FOR SUPERSTOCK COMPETITION.
Front and rear tire/wheel set may be of differing dimensions. Lo-profile tires are Permitted, but tires must be of sufficient diameter so as to contact track when car is in a normal on–track attitude. (local ground rules may allow the near-touching of front tires.) Tires may be bonded to the wheels. METAL WHEELS, Delrin wheels, injection molded wheels and similar aftermarket wheels and tires are permitted if they do not exceed the dimensions .460 diameter and .215 width. Front wheels and tires may not extend in width beyond the fender lip, as measured vertically from the 12 o'clock position on the wheel opening arc. REAR tires of legal dimensions (.215) MAY EXTEND beyond the body confines provided such extension is not excessive. (No more than 1/8” IS RECOMMENDED)
Wheels Specific: A reasonable attempt to affect a prototype appearance on non-prototype wheels is required. Minimally, delrin or any other ‘disc type wheel must be painted Black, Silver/Aluminum/Magnesium or match Body color. Decal inserts, or other Mag wheel inserts are a desirable feature.

The 'extension beyond fender lip" phrase applies to FRONT wheels and tires. The rear overhang limit (1/8") is a RECOMENDATION (in other words an esthetic preferrence) not a limit. If the rules self contradict somewhere let us know.
The reason we liberalized tire rules was a nod toward the realization that sometimes scale appearance has to be fudged in order for consistency, reliability, and availability of parts to be served.
The same logic applies to wheelie bars in classes that permit them. We found that the better looking 'shorty' bars weren't cutting it, and too many derailments were the result.
Sorry for any confusion or discrepancies.
Scottman, we agree that rules need to be followed, and we try to be fair, reasonable and practical all at once as best we can. Let's see how the racing shakes out, sometimes we are surprised that 'best equipped' cars don't always win.

My Bag on fender flip thing, sorry about that ,But i do remember when we ran superstock the first time unless the rules have been changed ,we were to use narrow tires in the rear..Just look at the front page picture of super stock rules, it shows a car with the narrow wheels. So maybe we have changed the rules a bit concerning the rear tires, but i do know wide tires werent allow at least the first time we ran S/S. but if those tires are legal so be it. I personally think they are way too wide for S/S but if they are legal then ,Its not up to me.rules are rules. i just didnt realize that we changed them for the tires. Ok on a different note..has my car arrived yet? ?#32

your memory is correct.....................if i had my druthers we would run narrower tires...........the commonality of tuff ones sized silicone, as well as other factors went into the decision.
Thankls for asking tho, Scottman, you guys with eagle eyes help us keep things ship shape.

To add to what john said I will check the tire sizes, in the pre race tec. I will see, if Carl can send me or post the numbers that arrived so far, If I can get him, shame, I raced T jet Sports GT's with Carl last evening. He did say over 10 cars were there already.

I'm the one that lobbied for the wider tires a couple years ago. Here's the reasoning that I used. Until this race, I have always used RRR wheels. When the rules limited the tires to .115 wide you either had to use the RRR 821's or bust up 2 sets of the other RRR to get 2 pairs of narrow wheels. For me it was strictly a cost thing. Trust me, I have done enough testing (literally 1000's of runs) to know that my cars were just as fast with .115 as they are with the wider tires. Now where the performance advantage comes in is with the taller tires and the fact that the delrin and aluminum wheels run more true and straight. I really prefer the look of the RRR wheels but my cars are almost .020 sec faster with the delrins. With the level of competition at these races, if one person runs a part that helps a car run faster, everybody has to run it also. Unless you have a class where everyone has to run exactly all the same stuff, you will never have a perfectly even playing field. With that being said, a spec class kills any kind of creativity and engineering.
I have drag raced at the strip and I have done my share of street racing. I tend to be a competitive person. Too competitive? Probably. The building and tuning is the most enjoyable part of this for me.
just my 2 cents 440

Good Morning, Demon is up&at it bright an early this mourning,Or did he just stay up all night at the bar don't worry about the NOS ,If we all take a big hit before the drivers meeting should be a FUN event my old cars still using the same slow parts as past years but hired a driver from St.Louis area (recommended from the state corrections facility) really drives the cars like he stole it( an might try if you don't keep your eye on him) so while everybody who was at the bar will be hung over and sleepy my driver will be fresh from his night in the cell and transport to the track and I'm sure after meeting DEMON,PSYCHO,THE OHIO MAFIA,SWAMPER,will be ready to get back to jail where he will feel safe( probably get a job interview with the Ohio Mop) a GREAT way to start the SPRING,lets RACE ;D
