This is a photo of castable resin fresh from my 3D resin printer. These are a newly designed 20T gear that will be cast in bronze. This resin is a new product for me, so not sure how well it will preform. The burnout must be prefect for this to work. Also in the photo are more tires and armatures for racers in the up coming race. Lots of experimenting going on I LOVE IT!!!

please explain the "castable resin" ? Castable resin is a broad-band photocurable polymer that contain monomers, photoinitiators and other additives. Upon light exposure, the photoinitiators generate radicals which promotes the polymerization reactions. The resin can be cured with typical light sources found in common resin-based 3D printers. This is the technical explanation. The Texas technical explanation is as follows: In lost wax casting it takes the places of the wax. The resin is burned out of the mold via my Hillbilly Burnout Oven ( Coleman single propane burner with a red clay pot wrapped with aluminum foil on the outside. The the flask mold is placed inside for burnout. Once this is done melted bronze is poured into mold and hopefully gears are made. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have been busy making wheels, tires, gear designs and winding motors. However I did finally finish a project I had been working on. It is setting on a Jag DR1. This is my favorite body by Rick aka Hairy Canary.

that is sweet. I like the strategic locations of the decals. very well balanced. and I am sure it runs like a bat out of hell!

Robert looks good !! Like Al said I like the decals and it looks like it fits that chassis really good. I haven’t got to build one yet but save enough to put one together some day😁 Going to re cast that one when I get time. Can’t wait to see that one on the track. Rick

Well tried out new castable 3D resin, and well it was a fail.... I am trying again with longer burnout period. I do have a Plan B.... Plan B is where I use injection wax. The burnout for that I have done for years. The difference between the two is with injection was I have to create a silicone mold of object being cast. The 3D castable resin eliminates this step. I just thought the 3D castable resin was worth a try. Here are a few pics of my metal casting setup. This 1st pic is my Hillbilly burnout oven, red clay flower pot wrapped with aluminum foil. This 2nd pic is my melting furnace. The last pic is my vacuum table.
