This is a new gear set up for the top plate I've been playing with,it seems to work well. I had to make a cover over the top plate to keep all the gears in place.

kbuck the pinion on a 4Gear is metal to plastic. It does not hurt it. The gears that take all the abuse are the lower cluster and the crown gear. I already make a lower metal cluster gear plate. The metal crown gear after testing I will share more info.Good luck in the race!

You just answered my question Eagle. I was always told that tjets were faster than the AFX and Magnatraction set ups because more could be done to them due to the metal gear drive train. Plastic gears just wouldn't hold up. Due to this Jim Sgrig (tjetsgrig) doesn't wind his arms to low for the 4 gears. I once had an Afx custom made by Alan Galinko with poly mags and a 1.8 arm that just kept going through gears.

Hey Jeff nacho also sells poly mags for Tjets that would work in these chassis plus I have had some really good results using Super II mags as well

After more testing I have come up with a new improved design on the shunted brushes. After installing and testing on my F.E.D. I decided they required to much tweaking. This is not good when you proxy race. The entire idea is based on protecting the springs from heat overload. This is the solution and it works GREAT!! First I install the silver shunt into the oversize brush. I install insulator and spring. Then I cut off excess shunt then fray the shunt so that it is inside the spring. With the shunt completely frayed the silver fibers allow the spring to move as it should. The insulator does it's job, the shunt makes contact with spring and brush tab and you have straight up and down travel of the brush as it should be. For everyone that has placed an order this is the kit you will get as shown in the pic. Since I have not sent any out yet everybody gets new one. Now on to the next project METAL GEARS!! Todays testing has gone extremely well. The bronze 20T gear combined with the gear plate featuring a Lower Metal Gear on the cluster is just awesome IMOH. This setup requires a purpose built gear plate only for this gear. Stay tuned more testing to come.

Testing on metal gears is complete. The gear is a Wizzard Bronze 20T gear that I modified. I cut the collar off and reattached to the front of gear. This can be done to plastic gears also. This mod gives you just about any gear ratio you can think of. I use Black Max to reattach the collars. On the metal gear sometimes you have to solder it. This is because they can be diffcult to press on and can break the Black Max bond. Now you know how to make your own gears, knock yourself out.

Surprised you did not go with a 24T gear!
