Hello all, This is my first post to this site, it looks great. I am a new member here...
We race a nearly bone stock class (stock tjet rims and ribbed tires only). We allow brush scoring so that they dont rotate, no balancing, tjet parts only. No CNC anything, etc.
Question: What is the best rear tire to use? Do you treat it with anything? What do you clean them with?
I am aware of original tjet, aml, and the new replacements sold by Bob Beers (might it be a blend of silicone and rubber?)
We race 1/8 mile at my home, 24 volts, 5 amp power supply. We race 1/4 mile at my buddies home, 20 volt .75 amp per lane.
Suggestions welcome! Thanks so much.
Jesse

Our stock class allows any black silicone slip-on tire that's the width of a stock rim. .100 wide by .400 tall max. I buy most of mine from Jag hobbies...........

We have two classes of stock cars.
First, total stock class, stock tires and wheels. Second, blueprinted, balanced arms, and skinny silicones allowed.
I need info for the stock style tires. Looking for what works for you, tires, treatment, cleaners?? Thanks

Looks like Im going to do some testing and see what works out for me. I will be using just two types of skinny tires in the bone stock class, that would be original tjet and the tjet replacement that is sold by Bob Beers. I will post some data here when I get it done, its going to be a few days or a little more.
Today, I am working on my full size Mustang, going a brake job....

Time has passed, I am an on and off tjetter... back in tire testing, waiting now for oil of wintergreen. I have been having best luck with glued and trued JL skinny front tires on back of stock tjets. True them up, clean them with denatured alcohol and they seem to hook up ok. OK readers, anyone in central Pennsylvania wanna drag a little?? Im near Shamokin. Will travel, my track isnt really set up for serious racing. PM me if you want. Thanks.
I do have a decent lock and joiner 4 laner that works nicley. 63 feet of track, good 5 amp power supply, pc for a lap timer...

If in reference to the proxy racing........ check (click on) box near top of home page titled "Outlaw shootout". Info for race and builds can be found there. All you have to do is ask for entry #'s under thread to sign up. Then get cars to race, most use USPO Priority Mail.

How's the wintergreen oil working for you ?

I bought some oil of wintergreen online, none of my local drug stores would bother. Works great on old rubber jet ties, it melted my JL tires, so I will only use it on the old jet stuff. I have been tuning cars when time allows, still looking for some local guys to race with. I found a track north of Reading but have not heard back from the group yet. I am hoping to find some local guys to drag with.

The class you would want to enter for the Outlaw race would be the bracket class. There all have a fairly equal chance to win with a handicap dialed in at the start. If a .8 second car was racing a 1.5 second car the 1.5 second car would leave .7 seconds before the .8 car. It is of course always better to be there but at least this is a way to race your car and see some results. We do post some pictures. You will also get some ET and MPH for your car, or cars, which is worth a lot in itself. The Outlaw race will be run at 20v for 15.5 feet.
