To all concerned . . . Please, all the .02 cents we can get with thoughts on the subject.
. . . thinking of the time frames attached to various NTRA classes. If . . . frames were expanded or . . . leeway was permitted in the rules,
I thi.k we would get a greater variety of cars attending . . . And a more colorful event for all. Variety being the spice of life(like they say).
What does everyone think? . . .
What thoughts on this do you have.......................PC
Can't say for sure, but I think the idea when classes were first formed was that the
body type and style should reflect the class during the era of it's highest popularity.
In addition to making use of what was at the time readily available. As is posted in
most Legacy classes a racer may submit a request for approval of model not fitting the
listed criteria. Since going to the Quick Glance rules format such wording has been
omitted but racers may still seek approval of a specific year/model car. A year or two
either way is likely to be approved, beyond that you begin to invade other class eras.
Eg.- '60s into the '70s. Gassers waned in popularity as Funny Cars increased.
In the past classes have been combined to increase body selection such as this years
inclusion of Altereds in NTF class. Perhaps there should be more of this.
IMO, the N/fc is a stock class. I think the rules for this class should be something along the lines of the D/S class. I understand that there are those who like things to look as realistic as possible. And I, think thiis is part of the reasoning behind using stock wheels. I would much prefer to use a wheel that is round to begin with and has flanges to keep tires from flying off.
My understanding is that NFC was to be an entry level class, an easy build and economical.
I have not yet looked at the rules for a new class we have for T/ F. But I,, believe this to be yet another STOCK 4g class. Why we have three stock 4g classes is beyond me.
When we first started adding 4g classes. I believe the idea was to be able to use the same chassis with minor alterations for various cclasses thus making things easier for newbies or those on a tight budget. Since the rules were implemented , we have race events that are basically all 4g. . .
E/D is another near stock build but without restriction on tires and wheels. Why so many
4G near stock classes? Just look at the sign-up list for the upcoming race, the numbers
speak for themselves.
. . . having all different 4g's running at the same event does away with the original idea of keeping things economical and easier for beginers.
Be that as it may, someday we may be able to use different wheels. Things are all ways changing from one year to the next. And if more wanted to go fast and let being pretty up to those who can indulge themselves in such. Then we might have rules that reflect such. . .

I agree that running multiple 4G classes in the same event diminishes the economic portion
of the idea. This is one reason for instituting Series Racing. A racer can select which series
or series fits their inventory, budget, and building skills. There is no rule that you must
race every race. However it is certainly advised if you are in pursuit of the title 'Overall
Top Eliminator'.
Change in most cases is a good thing and I would hope that any changes NTRA made over
the years were for the better. This is still a fairly young organization with many changes still
yet to come. And as you stated one day we will have rules that allow the new, the experienced,
the customizers , and even the confused, all to have a satisfying experience in a single event.
