Thanks guys for the complements. I never got to finish the one I wanted to send. I was going early Funny Car a 67 AWB Nova. I had decals saved to do Jungle Jim's first FC. I finished the body and got it casted but went to paint it and my House of Kolors oriental blue was dry. Tried two attempts to paint with another blue and wasn't what I wanted so I went with the Firebird I sent to one of Rick V's races at Lions a couple of years ago or more. Pre NitroSlots see PsychoSlots on front spoiler. I need to work on my tune up. Hard without a track. But got that part handled. I got Kdogs track (Thanks Kevin for all of your help so far. More needed) and hope to brake ground on my track soon. Got the power source 30 V 10 amp system and a Trackmate DP 2000 timing system should be here tomorrow. Going to be testing the big car in Bakersfield this Friday and Saturday so hopefully I can start putting my track together 4th of July weekend. Can't wait ! Want to Thank Dave for a awesome race glad I was able to make it this year. And Thank You to Cordell for all he did to get are cars shipped off.
"Nostalgia Top Fuel Racing" Hours and Hours of tedious monotony punctuated by " 5 SECONDS OF SHEER TERROR"
Beautiful Bird Rick. Anybody that has ever hosted an event when Rick enters........ know how clean and detailed his cars are. IMHO Rick's bodies are still hands down the best and cleanest drag bodies ever made in the HO market. Glad to hear your track will be up soon! I like hearing about new tracks going up still. Keep us posted on your track build. BTW, What are you calling your strip?
Nice car Rick, as usual. Sam's right,Ricks bodies are the standard which others are judged by. Al,thats funny! I'd say Birdland Raceway, but then all that could race would be Firebirds, Thunderbirds, Falcons, and (gasp) AMC Eagles! (not to be confused with Eagle Racing, well,,,,, nah).
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2014 NTRA INTERNATIONAL CLASS EVENT WINNERS!
Excellent races in this year's International event. The finals, outstanding! In NFC, ks1933 builder of both cars made it a drivers race with both cars running equal ETs. Nitroviking takes STREET with holeshot win over TGM2054. Great endings to a great event.
Congrats to HairyCanary on his capture of 'Best in Show'.
I hope everyone enjoyed the fantastic video coverage brought to us by KiwiDave and the Voltage Valley crew. Thanks Dave and Voltage Valley crew, once again you have done a great job hosting.
If you haven't raced with NTRA, what are you waiting for? You've been looking long enough. Ask a question! Get in the discussion! Get involved! Get in the race!
Thanks to all that participated. Hope to see you all at a NTRA event real soon.
And now the back story.
Those of you who anxiously awaited the start of the delayed event may be curious as to the hold-up. Maybe not, but this is a story that must be told. Quite often things go on in the background of NTRA events that the general membership is not made aware of. These incidents come up and are resolved as they are usually items of no concern to the general membership. In this case what happened had potential to have been disastrous to all who sent an entry to the event.
As was announced the shipment was held up in customs. The reason being is insured value placed on the package. As Race Director for NTRA I wanted to make sure that in event of the shipment being lost or damaged that all who sent an could be made whole. I guess I did so not giving consideration as to the consequences that may arise at the other end. Due to the insured value of the package a rather expensive duty tax was imposed. Dave being the great Racemaster he is and having a 'the show must go on' attitude, without hesitation ponied up the hefty ransom. Without even so much as a blink Dave took possession of the cars rallied his crew and put on one of NTRA's greatest events. For this I feel we all are to be grateful to Racemaster Dave and his crew for the extra efforts endured and his valiant sacrifice. Many of you have already expressed thanks to Dave for the great race. Knowing the back story I ask that you thank again in a post, send a PM, or even a postcard (but don't insure it ).
Just thought everyone should know this behind the scenes story.
Dave has already suggested ways to avoid this happening again and is looking forward to hosting again next year.
