Hello all,
Can anyone tell me how to check runout of the commutator plate on a Tjet style motor? I have a dial indicator gage, but I need a jig or tool to hold and rotate the comm and check it.
Is there a commercial one available, or, does anyone have working knowledge of how to build one?
I am also looking for a jig to grind tires.
Thanks.
Jesse

Jesse Hey Jesse, not sure what you mean by run out........ is it in reference to the comm plate being centered ? Or plate being square with arm shaft ? .......... Peter

Hey, thanks for the link. I found that after I posted, very much appreciated.
I am referring to the commutator being flat and perfectly square in relation to its rotation. The comms are usually a little bit wobbly, that makes motors have a little warble in their high rpm sing.

Plates being what they are today others besides myself have almost given up on this and go with closest to flat we can find. Think.what your looking for could be done with chuck that holds arm shaft and rotates. Lathe, even drill press would not take long to set up such a device.

I have never checked runout, but I have access to a drill press and a dremel 3jaw chuck. I might just try it this way. Thanks.
