Lawn tractor battery ,pulled it out of the race tractor and toped the charge when the weather started to change . I run bolth the tire cleaner and dyno off of it ,haven't put a charge to it yet . Should probably do that

Thanks for all the tips and encouragement! Say Dave, any chance you could share the approximate value of that pot you have hooked into the dyno load motor?
The one I used was 4.7K which is way more than you need. About a 10 ohm would be fine or just put a short across the motor with a switch. I used a pretty small motor which does not put much of a load on the cars. Another method would be to read the output voltage of the motor.

Thanks Dave. I think for now I'll keep track of the output voltage and see where that takes me. Had time to mess with it some more today, fun stuff. Should have a digital volt/amp gauge in the mail tomorrow, so will be wiring that up. Once that is done, I think I'll start writing some data down and do some comparisons with the data and the times on the track. See if that tells me anything consistent. Just for kicks, I'll eventually post a list of the parts and cash outlay for this project .

Looks like you made some nice progress on your dyno. I think I will switch my voltage reading to output instead of input, which makes more sense, as the power supply shows the input voltage. Let us know what you find out..

Tried using the digital readout on the board but it will not work on small voltages and it needs at least 6V to operate.

Making a little progress on the Dyno, still a ways to go .

An update on my adventures with the Dyno.
I've found it pretty useful for determining certain things. The multimeter is reading the output voltage of the dyno motor which can be very informative for my needs. The blue & red gauge is a reading on the voltage & amperage consumption of the car on the dyno, not that relevant for me. The digital tach reads the rpm's on the dyno motor which is basically the same info as the multimeter, just a different format. The numbers let me know results of certain little tweeks and if it helps or hinders. Even shows results of tweeking shoes. It saves me a little time by not having to chase cars down to the other end of the track all the time, although that's the true test that shows the real results . Works real good for warming up my cars before I time them. Haven't bothered to work up any formulas on data. As said, mostly watch the output of the dyno motor.

I was at the track one Wednesday night with my son, it was a match race night. When the show was over we went back to see John Force. So we are hanging out in back of the trailer and John invites Alex and I for a look see. So we get up to the front and there is a door. Alex asks "What's in there? John say's " Oh that is the Blue Room." Then John askes"Know why I call it the Blue Room?...Because that is where Austin Coil goes when he's mad at me" That guy is one of the best. The Blue room was a AA/Top Secrete Laboratory.

you guys are getting real high tech Pretty elementary actually . High tech, for me, would be an apparatus similar to a microwave, where you just put the car in it, dial up how fast you want it to be and push the start button. Comes out ready to kick some ......hhmmmm........ or maybe a phone app .

That is toooo cool. I was gonna work on a shop/garage diarama for photo's and such after the Aug. race... but now my forum trolling may have put another project on my plate.....
