I will set my timing to neutral on any SG+ cars I send. Since this has come up I will also try some SG+ cars at all 3 setting and post the results. I know on some of them it improves the performance but not all as in some cases they run better at neutral.

Some loose as much as a full tenth and some gain slightly. All with the exact set up straight out of the box. Luv em!

Whatever you guys decide on is fine, however in the roadcourse racing of HO cars, the SuperG+ adjustable timing is a stock from the factory part. Any position of the end bell is still stock. Advancing timing by rotating the commutator is illegal. I think you may be opening a big ole can o' worms here. Most of my SuperG+ are always run in the most advanced timing position. There is almost always some rpm pickup at that setting, but it's still stock. It's the main reason that the SuperG+ platform and it's derivitives are my favorite chassis.

That chassis has been copied by BSRT and Viper both of which are excellent chassis. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and I think this helps prove the point. I have surely had some of those type cars slow down when advanced.

Mike I agree about the can of worms. That is why I wasn't going to make a big deal about it one way or another and also the reason I didn't want to exclude any chassis. I would prefer the neutral timing position for the race and I don't want to be messing with anybodies cars if they are advanced. I understand that it is still considered stock in any position as you noted, but none of the other chassis have that option either. No worries....not a big deal here at Bear Creek. Trying to keep it simple.

I think that Dave's testing will find that it's a fine line between a little more torque, or a little more rpm. I'm new at HO drag racing, and I appreciate everything I've learned from you guys. In my HO road racing findings, I've always leaned towards the advanced setting of the end bell. This may not be the best setting for holeshots, I don't know. But I'm soaking up as much info as I can. I'm looking forward to Dave's report. Dave has been especially helpful when it comes to testing on his track and sharing the results. I got banned at SCI, but when my sentence is up, I think it's a week. I will still use the site to promote NTRA events. But I'm not gonna hang out there any more. They have a huge audience, and we have gotten new racers from there. That will continue to grow, but I'm gonna use the site strictly for promoting events.

I'm in for both... Not quite sure what with, as yet - depends whether a car that come stock with braids is eligible for stock inline? And I aim to have a car in one of the two shark pools...

Nice graphic! Hmmmmmm.......that is an interesting question regarding the stock braided car. I know the performance improvement that comes from adding braids. I do not know what chassis you are referring to but I think I would have to say no, the braids would not be allowed. Like I said.....trying to keep it simple here. I hope that doesn't deter you from entering the race.

Woodcote is referring to the Hornby which comes from the factory with braid. Looks like the UK has one up on us there as that sure is a superior way to get the power from the track to the car and the cost is much less... The Shark pool is sure getting interesting. I think more are trying to get on our lists now than on the Street Outlaws TV show.

Hey Bill, I complained in a thread about a certain troll who always posts bs, he's a friend of the owner so he always gets away with it. This guy has ruined many slot racing sites, people stop participating because their threads get hijacked with stupid questions that always complain about HO cars not being true to scale. Even the mods there hate this guy, but he get's a free reign because of the owner. I got warned a few times, so I knew it would a matter of time before either he or I got kicked out. I don't even know how long my sentance is. You'd think that they would tell you that. SCI has a big audience, so when my sentance is up? ?, I'll only post there to promote race series that I'm involved with. I have a lot of friends there, am going to appologize to them for unlinking all my pics from over there. When I can sign in again, I'll remove any personal pics and stuff from their site. I've been a member there since 2009, and before that I visited often. But don't let my recent problems there discourage you from hanging out over there. There's a bunch of great members over there, builders, racers, painters, scratch builders, body casters, 3d printing geniuses, hydro dipping guys, and world wide membership. m

Welcome to the club bluesguy. I got banned and didn't go back for a decade. I just lurk there now. We should get this thread back on topic. I will have a list of names for the Kiwi challenge in the next couple of days. Woodcote has been enlisted into the NZ team as an honorary Kiwi! Test and tune at Voltage Valley next weekend for the racers. Getting exciting!!!

Kiwi, Looks like the forces are organizing and getting ready for the attack. Sounds like fun. I actually have 1 4G stock that is running decent to my amazement, working on the 2nd one which is giving me fits. I have some inline stocks running like I can't believe. After I took the braids off they almost died but they have been resurrected. Bluesguy I have run into internet cowards in the past. They hide behind a keyboard and spout their stupidity. I would sure have liked to meet them face to face but that never happens.
