Used to live in Fla. now in Tennessee. Welcome to Nitro slots. Here we have to run proxy races, (mail your cars in, we race em and return em, have not lost one yet), since we are all separated by a lot of distance. I am the only one who runs Unlimted here. Most of us have problems stopping the very fast cars so I have to limit the voltage to 20 volts. I stop mine with dynamic braking, metal stop strips and a catch box. Only have had a few bodies knocked off. We have a race coming up soon, but not at my track: nitroslots.com/thread/4528/2018-texas-nationals-creek-dragwayAll are welcome, only cost is 8.00 return priority shipping. If you would like to challenge me or my tracks record I will be holding a race in November. My unlimteds are gathering dust. My track has 2 30 amp supplies one for each lane with a Trackmate timing system and a scale 1/64 1000' MaxTrak track.

cozee, if you have the room for the full 1/4 mile and reasonable shut down, go for it. you can always move the sensors to 1000' if you like. a lot of hosts have decided 1000' is A-OK and that is quite alright. my home track is 1/8 mile because I only have a total of 20' to work with. I am pretty insistent on having plenty of shut down on all my tracks, but that is just me. opinions vary and there are no wrong ones. my 1/8 mile has 6' of shut down consisting of 1/4" X 1" X 3' steel bars that are set for the cars to roll on. the magnet traction cars slow down really good on this type of shut down. with the length I have non-magnet traction cars usually stop pretty good or roll gently in the "sand trap" (a small cardboard box with loosely fitting micro fiber clothes). my portable 1/4 mile has 8+' of shut down with a similar steel bar set up. so, I have a priority of safely stopping cars that can go 100 + MPH in about 0.182 second. LOL

Al,
I am now leaning towards the full 1/4 for the reason you stated, I can run what I want then. Also planning on steel bar and if anything else is needed, I will use a section of the bar as reverse polarity braking, no more than 3-4 volts. Testing will tell what will work best.

Redlightking those step by step instructions for Flikr should get you where you need to be. I have found that Flikr is one of the better photo storage/posting sites. If you have any questions just ask. I look forward to your pictures.

LOL Definitely going with the full 1/4 and most definitely going to need some serious shutdown as along with NTRA rules, I plan on running DRHOE rules for higher end in-line classes. Their top 3 class records are O/F .152494 @ 122.06 mph, T/F 109.95 @ .172701 mph, and F/C .174058 @ 106.09 mph.

Steve Geary doesn't recognize 1/64 as the scale to use for his 1/4 mile. my 1/64 scale 1/4 mile is 20 feet 7.5 inches timed start to finish. my 1/64 scale 1/8 mile track is 10 feet 3.75 inches timed start to finish. 0.152...... is quite quick and sure makes my 0.182 look tardy. LOL

I think if we ran off batteries we would be right there...were running close to 70mph and .230 for 15.7ft using 30v power...normally run 25v.... batteries would put us right there...
