Stopped by work a little while ago (I’m on staycation) and when I set down at my desk, this old Pinto die cast caught my eye. Now I can’t wait to get home and see if it is a good casting candidate. I’d love a Pinto Pro Stock and Pro Mod!!!

If I can find a Pinto car, I will be doing one for sure. I have a casting but it's waaay too narrow and wouldn't look right if I widened this particular one. So I'm looking. Who makes that one? I just did a Vega and am happy with how that one turned out.

Did a quick google search. I now think it is one of the Fresh Cherries line from Motor Max. I can send it your way if you want to work with it.

Thought this Pinto would make a good Pro Mod.

Looks like it fits the chassis well. Fits perfectly tyco made it . Don't care for the chassis much so haven't worked to see what they are capable of. Cool car just the same .I'll shoot out a pic of chassis later. I have always liked the pinto hot rods my buddy has a wagon with a hot small block ford . I also like the maverick a lot

My buddy stopped by, got a few pics of his Mercury Wagon, not the Pinto Wagon I spoke of, but owned by the same guy. He special ordered the car brand new, and won Walley at English Town with it. Sweet car.

Good ol 2x4s. I ran them on many of my cars. What year is that Merc? Remember my 67 350 Camaro from way back when. Got it running low 13s @ 108 when that was pretty quick and fast.

I believe it's a 63,factory 4 speed car, original paint, the carbs and intake are not original to the car but they are factory parts , at 108 im guessing 13 flat ,that's about what my lightning runs. Putts you in the seat fair ,about half way through 2nd my wife's feet hit the dash . A lot of people talk about thier 13 second street car and when you see it at the track it's more like 16 .

True there is a lot of fanaticizing about what some think their cars can run. My 67 Camaro was running that way back in 1970 when those times were very fast for a street car then. It was not stock, it had one of the old Holley 3 barrel carb with a Duntov cam, full tube headers, 4 speed with a 4.10 posi and big?? 7" cheater slicks. The tires were the big drawback, the same car with todays tires would be 1/2 second quicker. What kind of times does the Merc run?

I think 13 is still a respectable time for a street driven car,my lightning is also not stock it has 90/10 on front eliminated front sway bar and in the back I've put longer shackles and bars ,410 gear with a 295 nitto the truk hooks.I've also added a big mouth single blade throttle body to full ported top end that provides 14 pounds of boost! !! I support that with 62# injector duel walbro in tank pumps .tha is fired by cold ngks with like a 24 tho gap hooked to msd coils and sct computer with custom jdm tune. Full bassoni exhaust headers to tail pipe ,not a bad shop truck. Im not sure what the Mercury runs but I'll find out ,the owner rick mccernen is going to be helping with our upcoming event at motor city raceway and was also the one who found the two large scale cars that i posted .found them at a swap meat and called me now that's a good friend.
