Here’s a potential stock entry. Notice the missing pinion. Second photo is the Marchon crown and pinion from JAG. It looks similar to other Hornby/Micro Scalextric gears that I have seen on line. Some are white, while others are gray. For some reason, I tore up the pinions in both cars a few years ago.

Sorry for the delay getting back to people...
Dave - yes, an 11-ohm rating (using the method I described above) is very good for a stock Micro Scalextric motor. That's why we use them on my short strip! Expect anything between 10 and 15 for a decent running car. The reason I went for the 6-ohm rating was 1) to keep it in line with our HO club rules (and the the NTRA rules), 2) to weed out the battery set cars which are around 4-ohm and 3) to give some leeway for developing the classes in the future. We'll keep things as they are for the June to September 'Summer Series'.
Bill - that looks great and is 100% legal. The Marchon and Micro Scalextric gears are from the same mould (Hornby bought the Marchon MR-1 tooling). I have had some problems using a MR-1 rear axle and newer Micro Scalextric pinions, but I'm sure the MR-1 pinion will work fine in that car. As for your your 'super-dooper stock'... At the moment, we need an unmodified chassis and a Micro Scalextric body - and certainly no non-Hornby motors!
Micro Scalextric Super Stock may evolve from October (you heard it here first!). A Micro Scalextric chassis running to NTRA Super Stock rules (ie fitted with a 6 ohm Tomy Mabuchi can motor) will turn sub-0.500 second runs at 10+ mph - and are just about on the limits of the shutdown on my strip.

I am sending the SS chassis which can be used for a challenge race if it does not fit class rules. It has a 6 ohm armature in it and on the last half of my track it runs away from the stocker. To the 330' mark, about 5', the race is close as the stocker actually has the lead for a little while. On my 15.5' track the stock chassis hit a best of 14 MPH @ 20 volts while the SS hit 19. What is the actual voltage you are using. I saw 12v and 18-19v mentioned.

Send it and yours can enjoy some exhibition runs against cars of mine that have a similar spec.
Voltage on the strip is 12 volts. The 18-19v mentioned was the voltage of the old Micro Scalextric sets.

I have a Chinese car that is configured similar to the Hornby. It’s made for the wide rail (1/32 style) track. Does not run on skinny rails. Was thinking of sending it for exhibition racing. Think it has a motor like Mega G+. Would like to see if it runs at all.

Bill, run it in an exhibition race against the SS car I sent.

Stock entry went up in smoke during test run. Bright glow in brush/comm area. Fortunately I found the motor that was originally in the super mod Hornby. Not quite as fast. Super mod coming across the pond for match race with Dave’s car.
Chinese car staying home. It’s hardwired in reverse direction. No time to fool with it.

If I remember right the 6 ohm Hornby I sent ran 19 MPH @ 20 volts, about 7 MPH faster than the stock one. The race in England is running at 12v so the difference will not be as much.

Our second event took place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Another eight cars and seven new racers gives us thirty nine entries in the three core classes...
In addition, there were fifteen cars that took part in some match racing, including this fabulous Fast Freddy f*gerström Chevy C-10 that races in European Pro Mod...
Although the match race cars aren't eligible for the 'Best in Show' competition, the owner of the C-10 won the award for their Mercury Cougar...
Qualifying on Tuesday saw Clive Top Qualifier in T-Jet Nostalgia Super Stock, Rebecca top in Micro Scalextric Super Stock and Jane top in Street Stock...
The seven-car Super Stock race ended up with my Nissan the surprise winner, having qualified a distant third...
A nine-car field in T-jet Nostalgia Super Stock saw Rebecca's AMX-1 beat The Tortoise on the way to the final...
But Clive's Thunderbolt was too strong...
The big race was Micro Scalextric Street Stock - 23 cars this time! We used the FIA Pro ladder that is used in European competition
In the end, Jane's Bugatti Veyron lined up against WHO junior racer Dylan's Lightning GT...
And Jane won...
I'm looking forward to the next race over 11 & 12 August and welcoming some first-time American racers!

Nice to see some drag action across the ocean. I sent a stocker and an SS for whenever they get there. The SS is for a match race with Bill as it has a 6 ohm arm but not the original.

Sadly, the box of cars from Al's race did not make it over the pond in time for our event last week. Those cars did arrive on Friday - so they are now ready for action at the two September races that finish the Summer Series. We did have 40 cars in the three core classes last week, including a new T-Jet and two new racers taking part in Micro Scalextric Super Stock. These were the entries... We were in the middle of a heatwave on the South Coast and some of the cars set blistering times in qualifying, only to get beaten in the early stages of the elimination rounds. Top Qualifier in Micro Scalextric Super Stock, Iain's 'Jags' Jaguar was beaten by eventual-winner Alan in the Semis... Alan top-qualified in Street Stock, smashing both ends of the track record with his new Audi R8 LMS. However, he was dumped out by Terry in the second round... To rub salt in the wound, Laura won the final with Alan's old car! No such problems for Clive, who topped qualifying in T-Jet Nostalgia Super Stock and cruised through the rounds to beat Doug in the final. The first round saw two 'Best-in-Show' winners race, with Iain's Chevy getting to the finish line first...
