Sandfly and WBJ, Thanks a million for the great advice on building a track!
Fin, Thank you very kindly for thinking of me. I wanted to race with the pack and even registered to do so. But unexpected health issues popped up. I had to take a break. I hope to be back in full swing by the end of April.
I bought a new more powerful fan for my paint booth today. Little by little. Ever onward!
Warm regards, Ken

I found this place that's near my home. They are a plastic sheet supplier. They have all sorts of 4' x 8' plastic sheets in various thicknesses. I can have a 10mm black sheet cut 2"-inch wide by 8' foot long (times 12-pieces for both sides of a 24' track). canada-plastics.com/product/abs-sheets/What's a better material? ABS or acrylic? Thanks a million! Ken

I looked over this thread and had a good laugh at myself. What was I thinking? I really don't have room for a MaxTrax. Making a track from scratch is barely a bit cheaper than MaxTrax. Dead end in this house. I would need to move first. I could never host a race. Getting a big box of cars back and forth over the border these days without duties and taxes is nearly impossible. That being said. I still want to run my HO cars. I don't like plastic track for many reasons. The clickety clack sound of plastic is not a nice one. So, A friend made a routed HO track on a 3' foot by 7' foot base. Magnets are meaningless. Cars slide in slow motion around corners like real cars. Who knew HO could be so much fun? This will have to do until I move, and make/buy/steal a drag-race track. Thank you kindly for looking.

Ken, that track looks 3 shades of bad@$$! I can't wait to try something like this for myself. Outside of the dragstrip, magnet missile cars hold no appeal to me. (On the dragstrip I'm giggling like a child watching them achieve warp speed.) I have my tiny 4'x2' Viper Test Track dedicated to low voltage, low downforce cars with rubber or urethane tires and it is a blast to "actually drive" them.
