Here's another question for the "newbie hour". Did the Bill Thomas Cheetah ever go drag racing? It was specifically designed to kill the Shelby Cobra GT for all out top speed, which it surely did without question. 135mph for the Cobra vs 215mph for the Cheetah. I would NOT be wanting to drive a 1965 Cheetah at 215 MPH on any 1965 tire they made back then. You take your life in your hands if you get a blow-out. <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button><button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button><button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> Thanks, Ken Ken, Yes the Bill Thomas Cheetah was drag raced, the number 10 car was built for drag racing for Don Greig and I understand that the number 6 car built for Allen Green as a race car was also drag raced a few times. After Bill Thomas ceased building the “real cheetahs” there were other fibreglass bodied cars built by Fibreglass Trends as a replica called the GTR. These were aimed primarily at drag racers. These bodies had an “A”” pillar at the side of the windscreen which the original Cheetah did not have. I have raced one of my resin Cheetahs in a couple of NTRA events on a Magnatraction chassis. The cheeky little car actually got me my only top eliminator win .

Clive,
Thanks a million for the wealth of info!
I'm trying to target some of my underdog cars for the bracket racing. I raced a yellow Corvair once. It was a dud without traction magnets. Live and learn.
I plan to use typical style drag-race bodies for the other classes.
Cheers, Ken

I don't think et will change all that much using the sili foam. It may even go slower, car isn't going to be jumping around (More downforce)

I have never had a silifoam tire fly off the rim. I have had the silicone come off the tire however.

My desktop computer decided to give me problems just before the race. Just finished setting up the new one. Fortunately, it acted up giving me enough time to replace it.

Mazda I believe your win was at my track with the Cheetah.

Tracking: 9405 8112 0254 0509 8714 25 The SC cars are on the way! Less than 1 week to go. Let’s kick off the Procrastinator's Index Race. Race team that gets to Smoky Mountain Raceway closest to the official start time without being late wins. May the best procrastinator win. Pictures of SC team to follow. There were a couple more Mustangs that were finalist but didn’t make the cut.

I was not aware of such thing as a "procrastinator race". My cars are slated to arrive tomorrow. I guess should just happy if they arrive in time. Looking forward to having a blast, and coming in last! At least until I get a practise track operational.
