Since the green 55 gasser will be going to a new home, I decided to replace it with this Camaro die cast body....(These are all on a stock Jag DR-1)

I think this thread is both cool and funny at the same time. I've been a Hot Wheels collector/vendor for many years. I had well over 30-Hot Wheels boxes kicking around at one time. 2/3 of the collection has already been sold. Too bad I didn't collect more 55-Chevy Gassers. I have a bunch of cars that have been put aside for possible slot car conversions. But have too many projects on the table to start another at the moment.

Ken, Do you still have some of the 55 Chevy gassers?

Hi Bill,
My humble apologies. Just one left. The one you see in the pic.
I can try and locate more. But it will require going to a diecast swap meet in the next couple of months.

crazynski...I've done a number of HW, just for fun. When I started this hobby, there weren't very many casters...So if I wanted a particular car, I just converted it. Now just about everything has been cast in resin..I don't do many, but I still enjoy them. OH!...They're faster than you think..They're cheap, no primer, no paint, no decals and they're quicker than a stock AW 4 gear with a plastic or resin body. That HW 55 gasser is the easiest conversion I've done.

Sweet, Those Gassers are a natural for 4Gear conversion!
Ken, Don’t go to any trouble. Just thought if you still had some, we could do some dealing.
Those cars are extremely popular with the HW customizing crowd. There are a ton of decals made for that body.

I have been checking out a store which sells Hotwheels in England. I have found some of the gassers including a couple of 55 Chevys’ I keep looking as they seem to replenish their stock on a regular basis, hopefully I will find some more. I will be sending some over as giveaways for the next race.

I have a few of those HW 55's. Not sure what I have, know about a gold one then maybe a black something. Maybe two gold ones LOL. Started HW collecting in 1992. Now in 2023 I ask my self WHY? I never had to have them all, my collection shows just that. Many times just picking if it caught my eye. I do have a few complete series that I like very much. Sometimes when a series is announced with select cars, it will change by one car, or the selection will be this here, that there. I have a race truck series where a Peterbilt truck was deleted, but low and behold I found one. Five trucks in a four series release, NICE! So the containers are full. Every once and a while I get them all spread out and start deciding which ones are for sale, it takes hours of looking and thinking. Then I start liking them again, maybe next time I sell a few.
