Hey Guys...
I've been lurking on this board for almost a year... I'm very impressed with how freely you give information to anyone who requests it... I'm looking forward to within the next year setting up my own dragstrip, probably an 1/8 mile strip... I'm contemplating cutting some Tyco or AFX track lengthwise & sinking it in some MDF for proper lane spacing... I'll try a piece on the table saw & see how it turns out...
I would like to participate in a proxy race this year & will do my best to do that... I've already spoken to Gary Mead & have ordered a couple of bodies from him... Super nice guy... I'm trying to understand some of the terminology & rules, & won't hesitate to ask my share of stupid questions...
I'm not new to HO, I re-discovered it last year & built a 4-lane road course... I'm in the process of moving it into a dedicated room so it is all apart at the moment...
I grew up in the era of the large 1/24 tracks when professionals actually toured the country... When all that died off we took all that we had learned in technology & scratchbuilding & applied it to HO... Full brass chassied scratchbuilt HO cars, I wish I still had one of them today, or at least pictures...

Whoa.. No dumb questions here. Just questions that you haven't heard the answer to yet. We may get the answer right and then... Hey, we try!  Beastworx, I have a portable track that was made up in the N.E. using two sets of regular HO track with a 3" filler strip between them in the middle and painted black. The two outside lanes are wired in reverse and can be used to bring the cars back. Depending on how realistic you want it to be, this could be a good idea for a snap together track. Another method if you don't mind the closeness, is to use one regular track mounted on 1x4's. It works well too, and if you add two more 1x4's screwed into the sides to form an "H" shape it allows the wiring to be stapled under the cross board that the snap together track is on. The side boards then look like and work as guard rails. Easy to make portable if you wish. It worked well. Just some more ideas. Welcome to the group! |

Welcome Beastworx.
there is no dumb question on here and ,this is a great bunch of guys to race with and to get any tips you need to build a car for any class.One thing ill say about sam and john on here is they are really helpful for any questions and everyone here are friends,alot of clubs and forums could learn alot from this forum, ...FUN...No DRAMA..And great Fair Racing.You will be hooked on racing here,Again Welcome!!!!!!!!

I didn't say they were dumb questions but to us (i should say me I shouldn't speak for Beastworx) we feel like they are even though you guys don't feel that way and gladly answer our questions to help us get started.

  hey beastworx i know how you feel i joind about a year ago i think and i also can tell you there is a great bunch of guys here and they even helped me alot and still do so come along and join the fun good times had by all da big ragooo aka sauce king .
