I think the PSO and 4GO should remain stock type brush setup. I don't agree with the brush cups. Also I believe the Comp rules already say no restrictions on chassis. I'll second that

What's a "brush cup"?

Brush cups are sorta like brush tubes for pancake cars. They originally came on Aurora Super II cars. They are brass cups inserted into the holes in the bottom of the chassis that the brush springs and brushes go into.
Hope we get a firm ruling on the issue of using brush cups. I was planning on trying some in my PSO car or 4GO cars. Gotta do something since they seem to be stuck in mid pack.

I think we need to put the brush cups to a vote. I have tried them and found NO performance advantage to them. The brush might last longer and maybe run cooler in a long roundy round race but for drag racing I don't think it is any help at all. I am not planning on putting them on any of my PSO or 4G cars at this time as I feel it is a waste of time..

Dave my thoughts are more about keeping it simple than it is about any performance advantage...although I have run them before and did find a slight advantage mostly in the form of consistency. The PSO and 4GO were supposed to be something that an Intermediate builder could be involved in. Now we're talking about wet comm, brush cups, springs only, etc...... It's my understanding that Comp should be a slight step up from Stock / Super Stock. All you have to do is change the armature. IMHO those type mods...performance advantage or not....should be reserved for the upper end builds. I'm good either way....that's just how I've understood things. I'm really not a big fan of open forum rules discussions either .

Good discussion, been putting new tune in dreamcycle. Happen to be brush tuning today .i plan on leaving the factory set up.you've seen my cars jj don't matter much to me as long as i can get by comp cams camaro and aces wild .going to leave the rule making up to officials. If top plate has to match chassis as i understood it ,then the supper 2 would be a spendy option. Dave, tried the waded braid in the pockets worked really good

I agree with Jeff as to keeping costs down and things simple so we will not allow brush cups in the lower classes. In super comp & unlimited anything goes. Gnome I know the rules for brushes indicate no restrictions on brushes but I think the wet brush should be restricted to Super Comp and unlimted.

Thanks Dave and Jeff for confirming no brush cups. It doesn't make a difference to me I was just wanting to know because I didn't know if others were using them or not and I didn't want to miss out on any good stuff if they were legal.

I'm on the same page as hairy canary and agree fully with dave and jj wett brush and I'm going to assume springs only to be for the other classes.if hairy canary hadn't asked his questions my dr-1 was going to be sent with no mods to traction mags, fixed that.i didn't want to voice opinion and muddy waters u all have formed a great chance for anyone to race ,i myself like the classes and rules noting one exception, no hot gravity classes. Held off on dreamcycle yesterday and focused on dr-1 ,looks like im safe to continue setting the dreamcycle on melt

Anyone wanting to run an Unlimted MATCH race please let me know. I will once again do an exhibition race with the 4 Unlimteds I have, 60+ mph speeds. I know these cars are expensive to build but they sure do fly. I have not had a challenge since Al Pink ran his sled against my Unlimteds. Running at 20 volts my cars were quicker and faster. His car had run as fast as 108 mph with approximately 30 volts, on a 1320 scale 1/64, and a lot of amps. My top car was about 10 mph faster at 20 volts. Al had the only other car to ever run .2s on my track. Al said he has had armatures explode when running those cars. At 20 volts I have yet to have an armature fail.

I used a BSRT chassis with a custom wound low ohm ball bearing arm, sili foam tires, neo motor magnets, neo or poly traction magnets all gold plated electrical components. Of course anything goes so the build is up to what ever you want.

You should probably put this on the race thread. I would like to try an inline unlimited sometime. Maybe before the end of the year.

I will post the challenge in the race thread. I do not do my own winding as I cannot find a winding machine. Hate doing it by hand. Wind is about 1 ohm. I purchased the arms, don't know size of wire or turns.
