If you have the DP 2000 then the external tree is your only light. When you hit enter to start the race the computer screen will say "GET READY". No tree on the screen. You only watch the external tree.

Now that my track works, maybe I have permission to open my mouth again.
I agree with the eye level tree. We had the econo system first with the tree on the monitor and with it at table height it wasn't user friendly. Then I mounted a flat panel monitor on the wall above the track at about 7' high. It was hard on your neck and I did it to make it so anyone behind the guys at the starting line could see it and read the times that came up. Now that I have the 7" tree, it's mounted on a "trophy post" at eye level and works the best of the three ways. We also took some foam board and made a shield for blinding the other side of the tree lights when bracket racing. Messes up your concentration otherwise. JMO
We cut the foam board so it comes down the center of the tree and hooks over the top of it. No tape or other fasteners needed. Just hook it over the top and let it hang. Works great.

Hey dog, we have a 7" tree also. They are much easier to see if you mount them up higher around eye level when standing. When we first started racing our tree was down low with the track. By mounting it up higher it is much easier to see and since you are not looking down from a angle, the bulbs don't appear as crowded. sam,how much does a tree like that one cost? is it from trakmate? thanks, jd msjdracing@rtmc.net i sent you an email about bodies earlier.
