Thanks guys... You need to talk with the experts on fading... I get lucky a lot!!! The Vette body started off as a metalic white base. I used some clear green in the airbrush, started spraying front to rear on the left top side, holding the body at an angle, sprayed just past the middle, turn the body around, sprayed front the right edge to the middle. I was letting the paint hit at an angle as to blow off the sides, to keep from getting pain on the sides... Now for the orange, I sprayed the inside wells first to get them covered, ( I try to spray from inside of the body out. That way you don't get as much paint on the outsides of the body), then the same again going from front to rear, hold the brush at a 45 degree angle as if you are trying to bounce the paint off the body. Once you see some color being layed on, you can get a little more direct with your spray at the bottom for coverage... Just think about your spray pattern and how the paint is going to land, or how you want it to land... And if you screw up, just spray solid color on top to hide it all...Hope this helps... It's running an AW T-Jet type chassis, Aurora will work also...
I've just always liked that body...
Anybody remember Big John Mazmanian running one??? He also ran the Willys...RM

He also ran the Willys...RM Randy that Austin is Awesome ! Love that body and the yellow. All of Big John's cars where beautiful. He had the Austin and Willys at one of the Hot Rod Reunions on display. Unbelievable ! Here is a couple from when he ran it. They called the Austins The Football ! Thanks Rick, and thanks for the pics...I love that car myself...I actually like it more than a Willys if you can belive that... I have or did have some decals to build one, just haven't gotten to it...I may need to chop the top a bit...too many projects... In the meantime, here's a red one the boys finished up...RM    |
