Thanks guys!! You know that I appreciate your comments big time! I am improving in baby steps. Not doing enough projects to get a lot of practice, but I plan to do much more customizing this year. I used several of the tips/tecniques that you two have passed on on this one. They helped tremendously. It was painted with OPI lacquer polish (Crimson Sunset and In the Limelight) and the white is Testors acrylic all thru a Paasche airbrush....no external airbrush except for clear coat. I am trying not to take the easy way out....lol. The decals have been a thorn in my side for awhile. Printer is printing them fine. I wasn't putting enough sealer on them and the ink would get smudged. Also just started using a couple of decal setting products by Micro Scale that are really nice. Need practice...practice...practice. I have several projects working now but this is the next one that is getting my immediate focus. 1994 Thunderbird Pro Stock for a BSRT G3 chassis. Sam I think one of your Glidden Quality Care cars is the Tbird. I love that car but I have never seen one cast. Soooooo I am making my own from a Super G+ Thunderbird NASCAR car. No more turns for this car. Eagle Racing will be casting this car when I get it into primer. It will be one of my MM/PS cars.

Just finished my second pair of IR emitter bars for Blacktop Raceway. These are stronger than the factory emitters and will allow the gantry to be higher off the track. I am purchasing the electronics parts from Digikey online. The transformers are just old cell phone chargers. Mine have worked flawlessly since I first installed them. Fun project.

Hey bud...Cool work with the Bird...If it's not too late, I'd recomend stripping it first, just easier than trying to sand the factory lettering down. Those tampos, as smooth as they may be, will sometimes show through primer and will especially show if casting. Fingerprints will even show in casting...Like where your headed!!! RM

No it's not too late. The red is the color of the plastic. Everything else is paint. I will strip it before going any further on your recommendation. Thanks.

actually I have made a resin of the T-Bird SC. Yours however will work better for wide tires. I like to slam mine and use narrow tires. I'm not sure how much Glidden raced the T-bird SC before switching back to the newer Probe body. It's hard to find pictures of the SC online. One of his racers hand out cards were of the T-bird even when he was racing the QC probe. Same paint scheme different body. I like the looks of the T-bird body better but imagine it was a boat compared to the smaller and sleeker Probe.
One of the pictures I found of the 1/1
This one was never cast. It still has a balsa wood hood scoop and styrene deck wing.
T-bird is to the far right.
sorry to Hi-jack your thread. You know once you start making masters and molding them, you will have a totally new sickness to deal with, it's highly contagious and there is no cure

No no no....no hijacking here! Thank you for posting. I have been looking for some of the pics of your Tbirds and you are right....the Glidden Tbird pics are not easy to find. Good ones anyway. Needed something for a reference. I forgot about the white one. That picture is from Blacktop so I was there. Hmmmm must be getting old. As far as casting goes, after my whining earlier about not improving fast enough, I don't think I better start anything new right yet. I have done several "one off" builds and always wish I had another one. They take so much time to build. I asked Robert if he would cast this one. But wait....isn't pretty much everything with this hobby highly contagious?? Thanks again for the input.

I know....I know...Ford is definitely my first choice, but if I can't have a Ford, I will take a Chevy. Besides I have a '64 C10 stepside sitting in my garage. So I'm kinda partial to them and trucks in general. Mine gets a new motor sometime this spring or summer. Little street hot rod. I need a little more $$ in the truck fund. It's been a long time coming. Oh......if I ever decide I need to slow down, I might consider a Mopar. But only then.

Lots of stuff going on around here lately. Getting back to some of MY projects now. Started testing some Street cars last week for the upcoming International race and ran into a problem with the timing system. I had seen this a few times before now, but had not been running any of the slower cars very often. The problem was that my right lane would miscount only on the slower cars of around 1.00 sec or slower....almost every time. I checked everything and also changed out the sensor. System worked before track upgrade. I contacted Trackmate and let me say this.......I am running an older version of the Basic Drag System that I have had for several years now. Trackmate supports their product!! I received a call from Dan before the end of the day. We talked about a few things and, to make a long story short, it ended up being something simple. The finish line sensor was going bad. That is bound to happen. I could have figured that out by myself, but it was really good and helpful to have someone to answer my questions about their product....especially in this day and age. Next upgrade for me will be my timing system to a better Trackmate system. Most likely the DP2000, but for now the Basic is back to working flawlessly.
Once I got everything working again I got back to running some cars. Saturday was a full day of testing at the track. My son even bumped in for a little while. Track performed without a hitch. Wish I could say the same for my Street cars. Still have some time and some work to do. Here are a few pics of the mess in the pits and some shots from the rail. Lots of fun playing with the cars.

Well now that the race is complete and all the cars are on their way home, I will get onto some other projects.I have several of my own waiting in the wings but I am obligated to doing these four 4g cars from the bottom up for an Illinois racer. A '66 Nova, '69 Nova, '70 Chevelle, '70 Dodge Daytona....all in some Pro Mod form from nitrous to turbo to blown. (2) Monster Energy, (1) John Wick , (1) Joker. Haven't ever done 4 at once so going to go with the KISS approach....keep it simple stupid! Chassis will be our basic Doorslammer 4G3 type setup with 4 ohm custom Eagle Racing armatures. Should be fun.
