You can use balsa wood or even styrene sheets for railway modelling. Cut the sheets to form the basic shapes and bond using PVC glue for the wood and resin or even super glue for the styrene. You could locate the spectator area up top and the pits section down low next to the track. You'll have to check out real-life photos of various race tracks for inspiration and ideas. A lot of the pre-fab'd modelling materials for model railway can be used - I've seen styrene sheets moulded to look like brick walls at the hobby shop. An air brush would also be handy for the detailing stage. You could even install some led lights for added realism during night racing....

If I can ever get to storage, I have plans to build a grandstand. Mine was built using these plans, using styrene for the sides and popsicle sticks for the seats/benches. I even added a 'roof' made from cardboard. VERY easy actually. And, you can build stuff out of practically anything if you use your imagination! I built a tower for my track from a cardboard box!(still haven't assembled the track, no where to put it!) The sides I just went to the hobby shop, and got the previously mentioned styrene that's formed like HO scale bricks. Just glue on, cut windows in the plastic and paint the cardboard black. Or, you could get 'adventerous' like I did, and cut all the way through the styrene and the box and glue in clear plastic from the back. Paint the inside of it black when you're done. Looks a LOT better! I actually have to go get a few things out of my storage today. IF I can find the track stuff (that's a BIG if..LOL) I will bring the stands and tower home to get pics. Will also try to find the plans. Ron (Bondo)

Here are some more. Word is if you print them on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper it is the correect scale for HO. Don't know if so I never tried it.

Thanks for posting. I have a program that I use to do buildings, but I'm always looking for stuff like this too. Lots of good stuff here. I can make a few additions to my track with some of these. Are you going to enter any cars in the upcoming race? Jeff

Yep..those do print in the scale needed. I have a bunch already printed up and put together stored with my track. I also have images saved for printing soda machines, outhouses and even a telephone booth! If anybody wants them, shoot me your email in a pm and I'll send them to you. Ron (Bondo)

And btw..I did find the plans I have to build a grandstand. I got this from Rick (Lions Dragstrip) and it's the same one he started with, although I thik he modified it and made it bigger. I need to scan them so I have them saved in the puter. Got 'rained out' and couldn't keep looking for the rest of the stuff though. :/ Ron (Bondo)

And my hours at work do not leave much time to tune the cars. I did get a chance to take them apart and clean them all. As soon as I get a day off I will be in the shop with the door locked and the radio loud so no one will disturbe me.
