Would anyone be intrerested in doing a pro-extreme doorslammer class? I've been working on some general specs. We are looking at doing this at our track and didn't know if there were any NTRA rules for such a class.

Pro-Extreme? I'm listening. What did you have in mind? Hell I went to the NHRA Summer Nationals today and I'm feeling the need for speed.

Phantom, I grew up listening to radio commercials about Englishrown, "Sunday, Sunday, Sunday at Englishtown Raceway Park...." Someday maybe I'll get a chance to see a race there.

The only things I have set in stone are that A) full fendered body. Any year any make. B) ProMod style wing or 'Tuner'-style BUT must not exceed roofline of body. C) All chassis are allowed but INLINE motors are considered TURBOcars(must have hood scoop/cowl/turbo on body) and PANCAKE mototrs are considered INJECTORcars (must have injector/blower on car). C) This class is a pure speed class. No limitations to motor, gear, etc. D) This class will run on a PRO TREE.
I dont know what a good voltage would be, that I need help with and any other ideas. Thats all I have so far.

I spent many a summer at Norwalk Raceway Park now Summit Motorsports Speedway in Ohio. Just the pure speed of those cars, WOW! I was glad to have a father and an uncle that not only raced in bracket but were engine builders for a championship team.

So Extreme Doorslammer would be an anything goes kind of class. Lexan bodies or hard plastic?
Phantom, I grew up in Middletown and Englishtown wasn't that far away, in fact we would pass a sign saying Englishtown whenever we went to visit family. My mother worked at a Dodge dealership in Matawan and they had a couple Super Stock cars. I would run to the shop area whenever I got to visit to check them out. Could never get Dad to take us to a race though. We moved to Texas before I was old enough to drive so I never got over there. By that time I had discovered dirt bikes and all my racing so far has been two wheeled and in the dirt. Kind of accounts for all the lower back problems I've been having lately.
I have the DVR set to record the Englishtown race and am hoping to make it up to Ennis in September.

I'd say hard body, plastic or resin. But what would everyone think? It would be an anything goes class.

So it would be inline versus pancakes any thing goes with an injected or resin full fendered body. I've been wanting to build an unlimited T-Jet but it would be hard to compete against an unrestricted inline. Of course with no restrictions it gets expensive to be competitive. You could spend well over $100 to run near the front. I think most of our current FEDs cost between $50 and $75.

How about using the FED class rules but have Pro Mod type bodies? The Chassis could be used for both classes! Help keep costs down?

That's a good idea Dave. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure if I could race in this one or not due to time and money, but if it was a completely new unlimited build I wouldn't be able to. I've spent so much time, money, and effort on these F.E.D.'s already. That may speak for some of the other racers as well. Besides, I don't think that an unlimited pancake motor build would have a chance against a full blown inline unlimited anyway if those rules are used.

I'm with Jeff,a pancake chassis doesn't stand a chance against a inline chassis.Plus the cost of building and stocking up on parts for F.E.D. class right now ain't cheap, and if they cost to much to build alot of guys won't be able to join in on the fun.I'd like to see a 4gear chassis class using only the Blue Drag Arm from Aurora(they OHM in the mid 7s)with poly magnets.Unlimited tire & tire size and any gears readily avalable with a set min weight.Body styles being any hard plastic or resin, doorslammer, alterd,or dragster (front or rear engine)just no funny car bodies. This would be a cheap build that alot of guys could afford.

Seems like the best way to do it is to pick a chassis type and adopt NTRA Rules for the chassis with the body style you want if you want some participation from the forum. (Inline - MM/PS; 4-Gear - FED or Doorslammer; Magnatraction - Pro Street; T-Jet - Comp Eliminator)

What chassis would work the best? I personally like inlines. But would like to see a class where you could do a huge build but be able to experiment with something new and still be within the ruleset. I havent looked at FED rules yet but would this allow racers to build such a car?

FED rules require a 4 Gear chassis but is basically unlimited after that. Lots of experimentation going on. You might want to take a look at the Mountain Motor Pro Stock rules (MM/PS) for inline rules. I think the faster cars are in the .3 second range. FED 4 Gears have broken the .5 barrier
