Just put bushings in Tyco bulkheads , installed front bushing from outside. Flanged , makes spacing arm easier than milling down flange part of bushing. Used small dab of JB on each side of bushing so no worries about it coming out of the bulkhead.
Did not want to put this under upgrade thread........ thought all stuff from past ........ eeerrr you know, had been deleted.

Thinking I'm going to put bushings in Tyco again........ should have said more bushings. Already did bulkheads. Going to try rear axle bushings. Might be tricky because of notch.........but patience wins out. Was thinking of increasing size of notch so bushings could be left on axle assembly. Keeping removal & instalation on rear snap fit. From what I've read about it (where ever I found it). Popular consensus is that top speed is increased when axle is in bushings vs plastic hole.
Concern is whether such would be legal for NTRA inline builds. Not questioning stock, but N2. Upcoming race you know, and all my cars are ready. Need something to do before then.......ok something else. Just don't feel like picking up a soldering iron right now even though I need to get busy with one. ......... Peter

N G on Tyco....... window behind axle pocket is to close. Could be filled then hole enlarged for bushing. But won't be a quick fix.

I was thinking of putting ball bearing on the rear axle but I have not experimented with that yet.

Been thinking same for some time about armature bearings in a couple of cars.

Tried them in a couple of motors and they only made a slight difference over brass bearings, maybe a few thousands in ET. Still it was an improvement. I also bought a pair on line for 11.95 that did not fit the shafts. They do not fit the .059 shaft and the shaft has to be cut down to .057 for the bearings to fit. Do not think it is best to have to do that.

What size ID were the bearings sold as ? Did you check on own for size ? Think 1.5 mm is the right size. When installing it helps to line up bearings before arm is installed , as with bushings. Can do with drill bit when bulkheads are in chassis without arm. ...... Peter

Peter, Here is a G3 chassis I did awhile back with ball bearings installed in the rear. Broke it down for parts on another build but it was very smooth and quite. Bearings came from the RC micro helicopter world! Think there were around $8.00 for 4 ball bearing. Local RC shop. ALan

As long as the ID is right , many is the source....... for axles. More often than not. Inside & outside diameters as well as thickness need to be specific for armature use. Thanks for posting pics , Alan. ....... Peter

They said only a half a thousandth, I found it took 2 thousands to get them to slide on. I think they bought a bunch of wrong size bearings and were just trying to unload them. Have you found any good sites to get bearings? BSRT sells them and they fit but their prices are very high, 10.00 each.

1.5 mm is .0595 (or close to it). That is a close fit on a .059 shaft. Not sure about axles , but have seen articles where arm shaft is polished so shaft has more float inside of bearings. Check E-bay , think somebody got them there pretty cheap. ........ Peter

The cheapest I found were the ones I mentioned which I don't recommend. If you see any others let me know.

LuBob , LB'S....... Gonna have to start abbreviating. Lucky Bob's , carriers them. Flanged and unflanged....... 10.- a pop. $20.- to do one car. I did finally breakdown and.got 4 to do 2 cars. One a 3ohm build with DeCosmo chassis (that needs arm & magnets now). Other is an ongoing "what next". But first want to see what a brush change does.
