Here's a Hot Wheels plastic VW the boys stripped, left a nice white body for painting... We filled in the jet engine hole, will cover with some drag chutes. Added a filler plate to the bottom mid section...She's set up for a four gear chassis, was actually able to use the front HW's post, added a rear mount...Stay Tuned...RM

I'm liking that. I keep looking for the Poppa Wheelie one. Need about three more. Great potential as a gasser and an altered.

Peter nearly all the color changers are plastic. look at the "rivet" on the bottom of chassis and see it it looks like body color and practically perfect. check HT for their threads regarding same and you will be pretty much kept up to date. pardon if I am not allowed to mention other sites.

As Al said, most all of the color changers these days are plastic. They use a special type paint that I would suggest stripping. The jet engine was diecast, that's the main reason to delete it. I guess you could mold one up and cast it, seems like more work, or you could add a round tube back there... I just never was much a fan of jet engine cars...like hearing the cam shaft too much!!! RM

Al, mention of other sites has never been a problem that I know of. People post links all the time for things. Just out of curiosity is this frowned upon on HT ? ...... Peter

Peter, in a sense. I have worn out my welcome there and have a forced vacation until sometime in June. no worries. still a good source of info and you can ask on the diecast board too.

Just as on the Street Outlaws TV show, accidents do happen in the real world... The boys were out testing and had a little accident... Grady pulled hard off the line, broke an axle, done a 180 and backed into the wall... The fiberglass body took a big hit, cracked the quarter, bottom valance area, and trunk, more or less exploded on impact!!! Got him temporarily fixed until we could get back in the shop and access the damage... The chassis/frame looked OK, so instead of repairing what was there, we decided to just put on another back half from a junker we had out back... We added some strut rods inside and welded him up. A little sanding, prime, and paint should do the trick. Hopefully we will get him ready in time for the next race...He may not be painted, but he should make the show...RM

Bet you have a super HO junk yard!
