Also Dave, could you share some of the meaningful times that have been turned in at Smoky Mountain for the Unlimited class.
Thanks, G

Got it Gale you are entered in inline stock.
Unlimited is a fun but expensive class to run in. No holds barred as long as it is roughly 1/64 scale size. I hand built all of these cars myself from BSRT parts and the cost was roughly 130.00 each chassis. These cars are lightning fast and when watching them live they are just a blurr. I now have 4 cars that have hit 60+ on my track and another that runs 55 MPH. Track record is .2368 seconds and the MPH record is 68.18, these were set by 2 different cars all at 20 volts with 2 30 amp power supplies. Those were best times however and the average times for these cars range between 2.5 and 3.0, still lightning fast. I highly recommend silifoam tires on these cars as they are the only thing I have found that will stay on the rim at those speeds. I have not had an armature failure on one of those cars yet unlike the many failures, 75-100 on pancake type armatures, of all ohm readings, I have had over the years. I know others are running over 100 MPH with these cars but they are running at much higher voltages and amps.

The English cars are on the way over today. I am sure that we will all have a great time racing at Smoky Mountain as usual. We always get some really close races so good luck to you all. Clive

Well the crew got all excited today and thought about leaving for Tennessee early. Supposed to drop down to 15 degrees tonite and snow. They thought they'd beat it over the pass and miss the weather, plus party with Mazda & Dave for a week or so . I had to put the kabosh on that idea . We got way too much tuning to do. Funny how a little bit of snow can make people act . We'll see y'all in another 2 weeks or so .

Good looking group looking ready to go even if they are being rowdy. Still time for some tuning as we still have over 2 weeks before the event. I will be in Fla. for the US Amateur pool tournament, (were roughly 2000 entries whittled down to 128 now), and possibly a father son tournament in less than 2 weeks. So wish us luck.

I would prefer the lowered magnet cars in Super Stock. I will make a note of it in the rules. I have two DR-1 chassis and I could not get either one to go down the track in stock form @ 20v without lowering the magnets. Right out of the box they would barely stay in the slot and after tuning not at all. Still sorting through my cars to figure out what I'm running. [b In the past I’ve sent DRs with round disc magnets glued on rather than move originals, just like we do with G+ or SMT. Bought some “stronger” magnets from Jag but they don’t read any stronger than stock. What have you guys observed?

I Have sent a DR1 for the stock class. I have not moved the magnets any lower. I have simply cut some of the plastic away under the magnets so they are exposed giving more downforce. It is the first time that I have raced one of these chassis so track time will see what the effect is.

Thanks for the good wishes, I may get to see some old friends from Fla. boy how time flies. I will only be there for 4 days, leaving on Thurs. and coming back on Sunday. Someone will be at the house to accept any early race arrivals.
