What a beauty!! Just because something is old doesn't make it worth a ton of money....jeez! Hard to get a decent deal on anything in the hobby anymore because of the people gouging!

Is he serious? The “custom” paint looks like it was done by an eight year old.

Looks like it's an estate sale he bought, probably doesn't know much about slotcars, unless it's the custom front spoiler that runs the price up??? RM

all the slot cars are listed high. but that might be because prices have skyrocketed since March.

Come on... that is one sweet ride. Looks like something I painted up when I was 10 years old.

all the slot cars are listed high. but that might be because prices have skyrocketed since March. They seem ridiculously priced to me too, even considering recent inflation. May be like real cars. Some joker watches Barrett Jackson and thinks a clapped out 4 door Valiant is worth fortune. I have run across eBay sellers who justify high prices because of eBay listing prices that they’ve seen. They don’t realize that listing prices don’t necessarily mean selling prices. There are some sellers who seem to post crazy high prices hoping to bait some sucker.

what he ^ said
"There are some sellers who seem to post crazy high prices hoping to bait some sucker."
and, well, it WAS P.T. Barnums biggest rival that said "there's a sucker born every minute"
...." it was actually uttered by David Hannum in reference to Barnum's part in the Cardiff Giant hoax.[3] Hannum was exhibiting the "original" giant and had unsuccessfully sued Barnum for exhibiting a copy and claiming that it was the original. Crowds continued to pay to see Barnum's exhibit, even after both it and the original had been proven to be fakes" .....

Wow, I think I will dump some paint one a junk body and claim it is custom work, which actually it is. Hey look at Salvatore Dali, he paints his nightmares and makes millions. There is NO accounting for taste. Prices for HO slot cars surely have gone nuts on E bay lately. I was a Real Estate appraiser in the past and owners were always quoting listing prices for comparisons which is not how you do it.

Seller just sent me an offer for $49.99 for this custom. Should I go for it. Maybe if he moved the decimal point one spot to the left. The AJs rears are probably worth that.
