Well, the pancake unlimited car is coming right along. Its a Tjet chassis with the aluminum gear plate. Had to do some mods/repairs to the gear plate. Idler gear post was way too sloppy. Gear flopped about. Was thinking about drilling out a Magnatraction gear with the small hole for a tighter fit. Bushing for the rear cluster had a lot of vertical slop, causing gear mesh misalignment. Looks like the bushing was secured by super glue which failed. Ended up soldering it in place. Right now its fastest time should make it pretty darn competitive, in the Gasser class.  We wont even discuss its slowest times. Certainly wont be pulling a "swiftkart" in this class.  Havin' fun anyhow! Bill I started on my Tjet unlimited on Sunday and had the same problem you did. The idler post is ok so far, the cluster bushing came loose and pushed the cluster assembly up and goofed up the pinion gear, the crown survived both beatings. Tried loctite and same thing. So I to soldered it. I took a small brass washer and put it on the bottom side and soldered it to the bushing and has been good so far. I end up doing the shunt soldered to the rivet and I made 30 runs at 20volts and thought while I’m not making any progress I wound upping the voltage to 24 V and made 10 more runs and still no heat issues. And it has a 1ohm arm in it. So that’s hotter than the others I tried in the 4G unlimited I was having heat issues with. I’m going to try and get my 4G unlimited ready and send it also ? Rick Rick |

The pancake Unlimiteds are sure giving us all some fits but that is what makes it interesting. It is what was called Hot Rodding in the past and
many innovations that Hot Rodders made passed on down to the Auto industry.

A lot of nice looking cars right there!! I'm late  ! Normally my cars would have been in the mail yesterday. Today is all that is HO drag slot cars in Euless, Texas. I will be finishing up all of my entries today and they will be in the mail Monday morning along with some sponsor stuff. I am excited for the race especially after attending the C10 Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway yesterday. I will post some pics later today of some of those bada$$ rides! The 3g Unlimited build is showing some promise. I don't think it's fast enough to win anything but I hope to have it respectable. I'm thinking a winning time will need to be in the .3's and I'm not there yet. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's cars! |

I like the Idea of 20V for Unlimited Pancake, it should allow more cars to finish!
