Call Out for Host Tracks for the 2022 Season
It is a new season of HO drag racing and I am putting out the request for those with tracks to consider hosting a race this season. Dave632 (Smoky Mountain Dragway) and myself (Bear Creek Dragway) provide our support with 4 events each year, but we need a couple more venues to fill in the gaps. Track can be sectioned Tomy/AW or aftermarket. Timing system is not necessary, but a means of starting the cars (light) and showing the winner is needed. Two drivers or a simultaneous switch can be used. Anyone that is interested, curious, or needing some questions answered can contact me here on the forum or at my email genjj1963@att.net. Everyone that has run events in the past thank you for you efforts. I am in the process of populating the 2022 calendar with race dates. Thank you!!

Hi Jeff, Renovations are under way in my basement to have a 36-foot straight. The basement is supposed to be completed in 2-weeks. Plan for a track will be created shortly thereafter. Many questions will soon follow once the basement is finished. I built this 7-foot 12-volt track last March (plus a 5-foot shut down section) to test cars going to the UK and it really helped me debug cars. It's time to upgrade if I want to get to the next level. The flooring and wallpaper in the photo have already been stripped. The problem likely will be the cost of sending cars back and forth over the Canadian border. It seems to be around $15 one-way. I'm open to the idea of hosting when I get a proper 20-foot track up and running. Warm regards, Ken

We will usually have one person that everyone will mail the cars to here in the States. Then they will all be mailed together. The return trip is then mailed back to that person and out from the there. I was that person and would be more than happy to do it again if you decide that you might want to try hosting. Where there is a will, there is a way. Good luck on your track build. Keep us posted.

Thank you very kindly for the support. Sounds like you've done this before. It's just a matter of time then.

Ken, If you should decide to host, once your track is done, you could invite our friends from the UK, Austria and New Zealand. That would be really cool. I would caution against running 4Gears if you do, unless you like getting spanked by the Kiwis . Bill

Bill,
Thank you very kindly for the warning. But it's the only way to learn.
I will certainly avoid the classes that run 1-Ohm armatures. The 5-Ohm classes look almost safe for a track with a newbie host at the switch.
I have a ways to go. Basement to finish yet. I need to rebuild the HO-workshop after that. Then build a track. Get a timing system and power supplies. A few Hot Wheels as decor near the starting line. Make a catch-box for bullets. Nothing will be fast, except maybe the cars.
Cheers, Ken

It looks like March, May and October are claimed. Participation really seems to fall off in the Summer. What would be some good, suggested dates?

There just aren't any tracks running events then. Gnome, Skillet, Alpink, and Eagle have all run Summer events in the past. July and August would be good months for an event and would put the spacing between events about right. I will go ahead and populate the calendar with my event dates in March and Sept. It will be the last weekend of those months. Dave's May event is usually mid to late May. Does that help? We also usually have something early in the year but not this year.

Heck yha siracha will be there. Got to figure something out to spice up the obstacle course lol.
Hey Jeff while it's on my mind. Did you want to race the tyco motorcycles we got at Summer Slam?
If so maybe we can get together and put together a list of rules for motorcycles incase others want in. I have no problem adding a motorcycle class in Summer Slam.

We could just apply Inline Stock or Super Stock to them and specify the voltage and tire size. Although there aren't any aftermarket tires that fit. Someone could make their own so there should be some kind of limitations. But what we have in place would apply.
