Bought one of the $30 OS3 arms once. Wasn’t any faster than the $8 versions. Custom 5.0 arm could be a totally different story. Depends on the setup which is different to get the maximum out of the car, I've seem 3 to 5 hundreds difference. That is a good point but the one I had was actually slower than the $8 ones I had. Threw every trick I knew at it the get it to run. Must have been a bad one or the standard units were just very good ones. It did respond really well when braids were added. Still lagged the others though.

Many times, I have assembled identical chassis with varying results. Dave, I agree with you. I've carefully documented both T-jet cars I just sent, and they perform very differently. The only thing I noted was that I held my tongue on the left side of my cheek for the Buick build. I'm glad I kept track of that.

I can see that. The two I built in an attempt to get into the Christmas race were pretty even. Equally slow. I have continued to mess with them some, and I think they've improved. We've now progressed from the sundial to a pocket watch (second hand optional, lol) for timing. I'll take whatever improvements I can get at this point. What gave me a decent improvement on one of these didn't necessarily give the same improvement in the other.

The 2 cars I sent in were a T jet and an AFX. The T jet ran almost exactly as it did here, the AFX slowed down by about .04. Generally, I always thought the AFX was a little quicker, but I am starting to wonder.

Yep, I like Gramps rust bucket. A very nice job of aging, well done.
