Well, lets see if i can start conversation without starting an argument. The Qatar team I can almost understand. Alan J wanted to start a team and met up with Sheik whoever who threw a ton money at him and BOOM came drag racing. Cool, Its a free country. (so far) Abu-dhabi is a new team Schumacher has put together for a few races as i understand it? Abu-dhabi with other countries form the UAE, United Arab Emerites. These countries are the Jabba the hut cantina of the middle east. You can buy or sell or hide or transport anything or anybody as long as they get a little cut. including terrorist and equipment used to kill Americans and our allies. Now happily teamed up with the US ARMY TEAM!!! I have a problem with this. Is Don Schumacher a money grubbing wh**e (rhymes with bore) or just an opportunist. I know the NHRA has had problems filling 16 nitro spots but id rather watch 14 than this.
Anybody feel free to tell me I'm right or wrong or misinformed. I'm curious what other people think.

I agree 100% about that Schumacher comment.I think he's a greedy pig.Trying to buy all the teams he can in drag racing. If it were up to me ,it would be ,one car per class, no matter how much money you have.

Makes you wonder if more of the smaller budgeted teams would come out and try to qualify for events if the super teams only had one car in each class.

I was talking to Scott Palmer last weekend at our local tracks summernats he said alot of teams asked him why he would race there and not Denver. He said to many teams forgot were they come from, but they have to many sponsers to make happy.I think if they would limit teams to one or two cars those sponsers would have to go on somones car giving those small team a chance.

Here is some more info Wood: www.competitionplus.com/index.php/drag-racing/news/15056-yas-marina-plans-fulltime-nhra-in-2012This really has nothing to do with your topic but I figured since they were mentioned then this was good a place then any to post: I'm a fan of Alan Johnson and Lary Dixon and really enjoy watching them beat Tony Schumacher. Looks like AJ, Jason M. and Larry Dixon really have a handle on their car this year and will be tough to beat in the count down.

I read the article, it's very interesting.I found the part at the end about racing there in the winter thus racing year round. Most teams can barely afford the NHRA season. How could they possibly race year round unless they pay them millions just to show up......I know that the NHRA subsidizes the cost for some teams to fill out the 16 nitro spots.
I too like watching Schumacher get beat. like watching Jeff Gordon get beat in his heyday. Now that he doesn't win as much I don't seem to mind him.(wonder why that is?)
