Ball bearings would have been legal since there really is no mention in the rules here. Locally we haven't been using them.
I'm glad you ask the question because I feel the MM/PS rules need to be revised. The number one rule request I get is..... can we adjust the timing on Wizzard armatures? I think its a fair request but should be left up to Cordell and you all for NTRA MM/PS events. Our club locally probably will not change but it might be time to mix it up a bit in NTRA MM/PS.

Hi SKR I recall having a discussion about the timing being adjustable on the G3 along with a few others. I would like to see an equal amount of timing allowed in any inline. The G3 I ran last year used recommended arm I noticed the com was off center by 5 degrees! I would like to see Nitroslots rules change to permit any inline chassis be allowed to have a max value of timing. Alan @ MGDS

Hey Sam,
Thanks for straightening that one out. Could not remember out come the last time.
Would love to see the timing rule open up to other chassis. Think that would get other type chassis involved more in MM/PS. In my opinion, the rule as stands gives G type chassis an advantage. Pre-tweaked brushes/endbells that can then be further advanced by bracket adjustment. These timing advantages plus the assortment of parts available for G's compared to other chassis types (Wizz not included), makes being competitive with something other than a G type seem like a wet dream.
That's my $.02 and then another half, if more of our members would like to see this rule change this would be a good time to say so..............
Sam, I remember you pointing out someone running a Tyco (I think) and holding the low time for a while. Any chance you might find out what was being used for motor mags?

Looks like the price went up on BSRT part #140 G3® High-Power™ Arm (hot wind - 3-ohms - fits all G3® cars) $20.00. Good thing it's still legal!

Was looking up rule, then read through thread.
Hey Cordell, Sam, pointed out it would have to come from you. Also that he thoought it was time for the NTRA to change the timing rule for MM/PS. I would like to see advances allowed on arms, think it was Alan, that said the same. Think anyone that would like to race something besides a G-type, would be in favor also. Not allowing advances on the arm, but allowing a chassis that has not one but two ways of advancing the timing. Has to favor that chassis and brush set-up. The reason I mentioned brushes is myself and a few others have put T-type bulkheads into G's. In doing so though have regressed to a car that can not change the timing. I don't know what reasons others had for this. In my case it was because I melted the contact off of a pre-tweaked end bell. And another 10.- for brushes that were not going to last long was spent instead for the T-bulkhead so brushes could be replaced for 1.- and car would not have to be dis-assembled to do so. I know it would be good if others had voiced their opinions before now besides the few that did. But you know how that goes (told me often enough), some things will never be. So maybe it's time. Just do it ! The country will have a balanced budget if you wait for more than one or two people to say something.
...............keeping fingers crossed, Peter

Do you have a place we can all buy these advanced timing arms from and if so what is the cost? Or maybe it is time to give T-bulkhead chassis(Tyco,Wizzard, and so on)it's own class, like make them the new MM/PS class and use the G's in a inline Pro Mod class. All the build rules could stay same for each class and the cost and availability for arms stays the same as ever. Just my 2 cents,I want everyone to join in on the fun.

Slottech H.O.Racing , builds a green wire 2.7 ohm with timing for $25. Not a huge jump in price. Most racers will continue to run the BSRT G3. I have no problem with a rule change on this matter. I'm not really in favor of another class. I think this change would level the playing field for Wizard, Tyco, T-Bulkhead type cars.

Not necessary to buy such an arm. Just turn comm in direction needed. Very few arms do not have enough wire left at end of wrap to do so. Have done this with every kind of arm for some time............... Peter

Had to walk dog.
Often on arms that would appear to not have enough slack the direction the comm needs to turn will create slack in doing so. Slottech might be the only 3ohm arm that is advanced. But additional cost is not necessary. Only arms I have not done this with were already advanced hot type winds. Have heard of some using some kind of super glue after advancing. I never have and have never had a problem with unwanted changes. Guess the glue is for peace of mind.
Tom, since the upcoming race is yours. As Racemaster you might be able to make the call for this race and allow such a thing (not sure about that). An experiment of sorts. Good seeing 2 more members with the same view. Maybe even more so inclined now, if advancing timing was an issue. Can not see this change as anything but a plus for the class. And would have to be simpler than adding another class. Most I think agree the rules could use a revamping so to speak. This could be the first step in that direction. ........................ Peter

Just saw another person signing up for race. Not to be singling anyone out, but...... 79 Malibu &JJ Wallace, what do you guys think about this ? And everyone that might have intentions of signing-up would you like to advance your timing ? Now could.be a good time to say something. Before Cordell, puts on the thinking cap if he hasn't already................ Peter

Peter the best BSRT arm is $21.60 from Lucky Bob, you are squabbling over $3.40 difference. If the G+ set up is allowed the best set up by BSRT then the Tyco, Patriot, T-bulkhead should be allowed the same. The racer has the choice to buy factory or tweak it like you suggest. Some racers will want to do that others will want to buy a factory arm.

Interesting talk regarding the timing etc. Regarding the MM/PS. I was told that that class and rules for same were setup for the G3 platform. In other words to move product! How true that is I do not know.
To allow timing to be introduced into one manufactures platform and not anothers that compete against each other does not seem right. Along those lines I have been told that a Tyco with no timing has taken out a loaded up G3.
Why not leave the MM/PS class and rules as they are and introduce a new class which allows X amount of timing regardless of manufacture?
Perhaps I am not looking at the total picture here and others with much more background will chime in.
As a foot note. Last year when I order up the parts for a MM/PS ride I noticed that the approved arm I received had approx 5 degrees of adv timing in it. That coupled with the ability to further adjust timing with the bulkhead to me sure can give a big advantage of another manufactures platform with no timing adjustments permitted.
So is it time for another class for inlines?

I am NOT in favor of new classes as I feel we have plenty already. I will not be running anything other than the SG+/G3 platform and do not have enough knowledge of the other chassis to have an opinion on them. I am also NOT in favor of Racemasters changing the rules as they are written. I try to start my builds in advance and I build for the voltage that a class normally runs. When Racemasters start changing things it screws everything up. At that point....why do we have rules. I say again though, I believe in a level playing field and I see where the SG+/G3 seems to have an advantage with the timing.

Hey Rob, think you got me wrong. Was just trying to point out that increase was not necessary. No matter to me how it's done. Would just like to see it happen. Sure, some might want to go factory. To me it would be a waste to spend $ on something like that. That is if I already have the same arm, 5sec's and advancing is done.

We're in the same camp Peter, you're in a tent and I'm in a motor home...LOL. I agree with Jeff on rules. If a test is needed then it should be done as a Match Race and not in the race.
