Anyone know how I can safely remove glue from a painted surface. I painted the car with enamel and then used computer clear labels to mask off areas and when I removed the labels I had glue residue left behind.

Depends on what it's painted with. You may try lighter fluid, use it VERY lightly til you see if it affects the paint. It's not a real big deal if it 'softens' it up a little, but just don't let it actually 'remove' the color. I would use qtips to do it, unless you are VERY sure you can use a rag to soak with the fluid. You might also try something like the cleaners you can get at Walmart and stuff (like Simple Green, or the purple 'stuff'..you know, the stuff guys use to strip the paint. It doesn't usually strip off the color unless it soaks in it for a LONG time, so it would probably work to clean off that glue as long as you do it somewhat quickly (should be able to soak it for a little while with no probs tho.) Whatever you use..just be VERY careful. Use a lighter colored towel or rag, or a white q tip. That way if it starts to remove the color, you can see it right away before it becomes a major problem. ;D Next time, do what I do. Either use masking tape (I use that pretty much ALL the time) or Scotch Tape works real good for graphics and stuff too. Be careful tho..Scotch tape is thin and sometimes you can actually cover up your edge. Altho it looks great with a very thin paint edge, sometimes it's a lot 'trickier' to get the tape off. It sometimes also leaves some of the glue behind, like you have already..lol. ;D Masking tape is the other way around. Leaves a LOT more of an edge, since the tape is thicker. But it rarely leaves the glue, or covers the edge. Sam uses Tamiya masking tape I believe. I've never used it, but heard only good things about it. Someday I will try it. Thanks a lot I'll give that a try. I guess Im lucky since I painted white over the white cast body. I should have left it the white it came with and cleared it after I decaled and applied the accent paint. Oh well that's why they call it learning ;D

I tried alcohol and that worked great, you gave me the idea to try it, I had alcohol wipes here that I got at the pharmacy, I use them to clean my mouse. I thought it wouldnt be as harsh to the paint. It softened a little but not enough to damage it. thanks again

WD40 will remove the glue without hurting the paint. After removing glue just wash with some soap and water. let it dry and your ready for the next color or whatever.
