I have some questions reguarding my track that iam building. So far i layed out the track and did some test runs. Iam running a 1/87 scale of a 1/8th mile track. Which is roughly 7.5ft. Now for the questions:
1. I want to use the AFX track. So how can i wire in a aftermarket Power Supply into the stock Power Terminal?
2. Do you guys see any disadvantage of running the stock AFX controllers. I ran everything from T-Jets to Wizzard/Slottech cars. And it seamed to work good.
3. What power supplys do you recomend? Ive found a 13.5V, 3amp at Radioshack for $50. Would that work? Or could i use the stock Wall Warts?
Other than that, iam good so far!
Cant wait to get my track built! Gonna be FUN!!!

We've been using two track supplied Parma 45 ohm controllers for the last 2-1/2 years with no problem other than they need to be cleaned every so often so they stay equal. Otherwise one lane will be stronger than the other. I would think the stock units would work for a while as you get everything else working. Personally, I would plan to upgrade in the future though. Keep em clean and you will have fun.
There is the same issue with maintaining equal lanes with lower amperage power supplies. We powered the original track we used with one wall wart and it didn't work well due to the faster car sucking more power and slowing down the slower car. Also, the driver of the slower car could shut off or if the car came off the track, more power went to the faster car and he could break out in bracket racing. The solution was one wall wart per lane although they are not identical, being mass produced like they are. I moved up to a 0-20 volt/10 amp power supply as we were having fun and just wanted a better system. Now we have one 10 amp unit for each lane so we can dial each lane in to 18.00-18.02 volts on each race night. Very even lanes that way as long as the controllers are even.
Do you have to go with a more powerful setup to have fun? Heck no. We ran races with one wall wart per lane with no problem other than each car needed time trials in each lane as the dial in's changed from side to side. This is just my opinion and hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply. I just orderd the Bdget H.O. Timing System from Trackmate 2day. And Dan told me it should be around 2 weeks until i get it. While iam waiting on that to come in, iam gonna start working on the table. Iam wanting to get 2 4x8 boards and cut them in half. So ill have a 2x9 lane table. Iam gonna run a 1/87 scale 1/8th mile track witch is 7.5 ft. Then ill have about a 1.5ft of shut down. Which is not alot. But thats all the room i have. Now for some more questions:
1. If i use 2 Power Termianal Tracks, thus 1 Wall Wart per lane. Would that be fair racing?
2. Is there some how that i can wire up a car battery to a Power Terminal? I wanna use the stock controllers cuz alot of the racers are my friends in High School and dont have controllers or cars yet. So it would be 1 car battery per lane. Would that be better?

For cheap way to make or buy the terminal track go to the website www.hoslotcarracing.com/ then click on track power and then scroll down to power terminal tracks. I'll let Sam or one of the other guys answer the battery questions as I have used two wall warts and then went with the 1-20 volt/10 amp power supplies.

HOOK UP EACH CONTROLLER TO THE POSITIVE SIDE OF THE BATTERY THE OTHER WIRE FROM EACH CONTROLLER TO THE TRACK THEN HOOK UP THE NEG. SIDE OF THE BATTERY TO THE TRACK MAKE SURE YOU RUN THE NEG. TO THE SAME RAIL ON EACH LANE IN OTHER WORDS IF YOU STAND BEHIND THE TRACK AND LOOK DOWN THE TRACK USE THE LEFT RAIL ON BOTH LANES TO HOOK UP NEG. SIDE AND THE RIGHT RAIL OF EACH LANE GETS HOOKED UP TO A CONTROLLER. IF YOUR CARS GO BACKWARDS REVERSE THE WIRES ON THE TRACK HOPE THIS HELPS
