Sam,
I use automotive paint and automotive clear coat for almost all of the cars that I build.

On all my 1/24 th slot cars i use sherwin williams ultra 2000 automotive clear, withstands lighter fluid and most chemicals also buffs to high luster with lil rubbing and doesnt add that much weight.
