I have a Tomy Racemasters set and I hate it. It contsantly comes apart because there is no clip holding it together. What is a good plastic track to get, i know wood based set is probably better but I cant afford that much. I do plan to mount it to a wood base after I clean out the basement some.

If you are going to mount it to a board the Tomy track will work great. Just drive a small nail every 3 or 4 pieces and you are good. The track has reinforced holes just for that. I used tomy track for years and have never had a problem with it. That's what my strip was before I got the SCI track.

Stick with the Tomy track I have tryed them all over the years and I like the Tomy the best. You will like it after you get it mounted,if you're running it on the floor you're going to get those dust bunny balls on you're axles lol.

I can't imagine a better track at any price, and for the money I'm not sure it would be worth the hassles of tuning a plastic sectional track. This SCI track is just so smooth and fun to run. Everyone has a budget, I understand that. I guess what I am saying is take a close look at everything before spending what you have and get your best bang for your buck. Tjet Tony

I've always called those dust bunny balls on the axles, hair bearings.

You are correct Sir... hair bearings is the correct term. That is how the Dog figures out the used chassis that are runner's from those that aren't at the Slot Car Show. So far using that method I am 4 for 4 in picking the hot chassis. Take the Dog's word, look for hair bearings in your next chassis purchase.

I thought that was your speed secret ;D

I was really looking for something longer, I have a 40' length now but I had it on my floor (carpet) and that was really annoying because the track would pull apart all the time. I am going to mount it on a table and that should make it all better. I am also just looking for two lanes. I do plan to buy Slot Cars Inc drag track as soon as i get a few bucks together though.

Wow.. I wish I had enough room for a 40' track! I had to scramble for the 12' but I love it. I have a plan to expand to 24', we'll see how that goes shortly. I never realized how much fun this was until just jumped into it and got my track. Well, good luck with it. Make sure you post some pictures

This one is TOMY and we are even sponsoring a "fray style" class and you know those Fray types only like smooth tracks. Check out Greg Braun's site www.hoslotcarracing.com and he shows how to bevel the holes and use philips screws to mount the track and what sizes of screws.... I did it that way so the pieces can be removed if I get a bad piece of track. It takes a bit of work to get everything set but once you do you will be very happy with it. Dig the new track logo...
