Hey Guys I am mildly confused about the actual track length. I have learned that HO covers 3 different scales ( 1/64, 1/72, 1/87 ) and I know track length is determined by owners discretion. I guess what I would like to know is what the average or most common length of track you guys run ( not including shutdown or stage area....just from the start line to finish. thanks!

if you look in this board under "DEEP STAGING" there is an article called "how long is a drag strip?"
There are those who insist on 20 feet six inches but few have that much room.
PSYCHOSLOTS Dragway and a few others are sixteen feet (timed) plus shutdown area. Reading the article will you give you a good handle.

I went with the 1/87 scale idea. I have 22 feet to use, so going with that idea, it gives me 16 feet of track, 1 foot staging area and 5 feet shut donw. Now, that same track length I believe would translate to a 1/64 scale 1,000 foot wich is also a common length. So your choice! Jody
