I'm curious as to how many people would be interested in a stock t-jet class.
Here are the rules that I'm thinking of.
16 ohm min armature, no balancing, no air gapping.
Stock t-jet mags just like the SS class
Stock copper pick-up shoes and brass gears.
Stock narrow wheels and narrow rubber tires.
Brushes, any flat copper/carbon available.
No ballast allowed.
I think that this would be a good entry level class. The narrow tires would offset hotter arms and magnet combinations. My fastest stocker has a 17.3 ohm arm and medium mags. Good soft narrow tires are available. The front tires off of the older JL thunderjet 500s work great.
There is still some tuning involved. You have to get the shoes sitting flat. Pick-up spring pressure needs to be adjusted to get the car to launch without hopping the front end. You also might need to true the tires to make sure that they are round.
For someone that is just getting started, this would be good starting point. You can get a rolling chassis for under $13. A set of Wizzard or JB brushes are under $3. Add a body of you choice and you have everything that you need for $20 to $30. If you want to move up to SS just buy wheels and tires, aftermarket shoes, and a little lead.
