Time to start seeing what everyone is up to in their Garage for the Gasser Summer Nat's. Please post pictures here of your projects in the early stages. When I think of Plymouth Fury, I think of Rapid Richard. Richard brought his family's 62 Plymouth Fury by the shop to see what we could do to get it ready. Since Altered wheel base bodies are NTRA legal this year we thought we'd take advantage of that and help out his weight transfer by Altering this Family treasure. This project here is going to be old school, crude, back yard style and if it looks Fugly to you at the end....... then you probably should be on the tuner/import boards instead of here So with that being said...... Let's chop this mother up! Richards mint Fury As you can see the wheel base is much longer than a Tjet's even at it's longest wheel base setting. Made some guide lines for the new wheel base. The tool shown on the dremel is one that I used after making my initial cuts to smoothen things up a bit. Always use safety glasses when working around power tools. No joke folks! You only get one set of eyes. Take care of them.I used a cutting disc and chopped up to the lines. After smoothing things up a bit. I took some .030" styrene and free handed some lines similar to the opening that we will be filling. I super glued the styrene filler panels on and used a round stone dremel tool to open up the wheel well a bit. Next time we will fill in the new panel with some filler and smoothen things up. I will make a casting of this and finalize the details before making the final master mold. Until next time from the Gasser Garage..... Keep the front end high!

I used Resin as my filler. After mixing it up I brushed it on both in and outside of the body. As you can see it was pretty runny and dried into a forming drip on the bottom. Here is a shot after I sanded and did some filing. The reason I brushed some on the inside is so I could keep the thickness the same where we added the filler panels. This will come in handy later when we make a casting of this body. This motor compartment is a pain in the butt to cut out as a die cast. I'm not sure of a easy way to cut it out. That's why I will make a mold and cast a resin from this. This will allow for easier cutting before I finalise my master. I'm sure one of you Dodge folks can tell what this is suppose to be. I'm guessing a 426? Here is a shot after a little panel primer. Yes this body is on a upside down chassis. Reason being? The engine compartment will not allow it to sit right on the front end. I'll do a little more spot filling then start the molding process.

Sam, the V8 engine options for the 62 Fury were 318, 361, 383 and 413.

Looks like a 413 and I thought the 440 didn't come out till 1967.
Wait a minute... they did make a non-hemi 426 wedge motor.
Richard? What's the truth? Part number? That the right shade of orange?

Yeah I don't know if this is a matching #'s car? I'll pick this thread back up next week. Can't seem to get anybody to work weekends in the Garage.

1962 Max Wedge was a 413
in 1963 they offered the 426 Max Wedge
1964 was the Mighty Hemi or the 426 Wedge
1966 was the year of the 440 and the Hemi
all awesome powerplants!

The 440 in 1966 was the big utility motor that was used in the land yachts like the Chrysler Imperials. The HP 440 came out in '67.

Here is a updated photo of the Fury. Kdog Racing sent over some velocity stacks for the car. I think it makes for a great look. This is a fun project for me and I look forward to getting er' done. Unfortunately I will not have much time to work on this car this upcoming week. I'll get back to it asap.

Close but needs the "Square Mail Box" Style Hood Scoop & Different wheels for a 2 lane Black Top Car - Still a Killer look to it - Kudo's to HO Bob
