Sam I am hopeing Phil will share the story he told us when he raced in st Louis last fall, about the Wheelstanding show he put on at the old St Louis International Raceway, it's very intertaining although sadly a tuff weekend for Phil.

Hi Guys, If you think the statute of limitations is really up I'll tell the story about the 4th of July race at SLIR in 1979. It was to be a Wednesday night program with 4 wheelstanders including John Ludwick's Dodge Rebellion. What do you think Sam, does this belong on Timing Slips? I've got to run to a dinner engagement now so I'll type it up and post it this week if the lawyers say it's ok. Kdog, regarding your neat replica of Bill "Maverick" Golden's Little Red Wagon. Bring it on down. I've got a Vette wheelstander for it to go up against. I'll have to add the track light poles before you get here to make it more realistic. Anyone know where to get the little magnesium pads for the back of the wheelie bars? Will they spark on Formica? Phil

Thanks for the complment ! I have already traded the Wagon to a friend for a vintage Auto World weelie kit still in it's package, and a bunch of other stuff thrown in. I'll check out the Riggens truck, but I need to build a T Jet based truck cause thats all we race at HOHRA. I'm trying to work out the bugs on a wheelstanding chassis, WOW it's an uphill battle. I have a few new ideas I will try out this weekend. I have been taking photos along the way, and hope to do a build up here on PSYCHOSLOTS in the near future

So...ya chickened out on coming down for a wheelie match? Scared ya so much ya sold it huh! We're bad! Ahuh, Ahuh, Ahuh!
Ok..ok..jus kiddin! Actually feel better knowing I don't have to put my car where my mouth was! So what are you bringing down to whip up on us with?
Could I talk you into taking some pictures of the old Auto World weelie kit parts? I have a feeling they could be duplicated fairly easily but not sure. Would be fun. I can see it now...The HO WHEELIE Nationals! 32 cars all on the back wheels. Not a light pole in site! BE THERE!!

No that one didn't have a wheelie kit the one I'm building now does so I still hope to make that wheelstanding showdown! I'll try to get a good photo the kit is already on a chassis. I'm getting some lift, but not nail it to the wall wheelstands yet. I'm making the tail gate out of brass, even thought of casting a lead paracute! It would be sweet if I could make it spark as it ran down the track. I hope to have the chassis standing on end this weekend. Kdog

Phil and anyone else intrested in building a T Jet based wheelie car here are some photos of what I have done so far. The kit is an Auto World not the new guys but the old orignal Auto World. You can see the orignal instructions didn't photograph as well as I would have liked but you can get some imformation all the same. The pickups look reshaped stock ones that don't hook to the limit tabs at the front of the chassis. Holding them in alignment as well as the guide pin is a double layer rubber strip the guide pin head rests between the 2 layers. The rubber is than somehow glued to the 2 pickups. the curved part of the pickups that attaches to the chassis is re bent into an almost full 360 degrees. Before pickups are installed you have to glue the coil springs in place. Once the pickups are in place you finnish bending them into a complete circle. I hope you can see how Auto World has filed the very end of the pickups so that only a small tab has to be bent to lock in the pickups. WOW alot of work and it still won't do a wheelstand, boys and girls MAD science is never easy! Sometimes a few heads have to roll. Hopfully it won't come to that on this project. I have some very good ideas I am working on I will update everyone as soon as I find some that work. I should qualify it does pop wheelies just not the 10ft ones I'm looking for. Kdog

Ok...Ya got me and I must be getting slow in my old age. How does it pop wheelies with the "wheelie bars" on? Neat front wheels by the way. Where do you get those?

Right now I'm in the R & D stage the wheelie bars are bent up enough for a cool wheelie you have to limit this kit for a limited amount of travel or it will get stuck in wheelie mode, plus now it's been helpful to place a T Jet magnet on those bars to get the chassis to even pop a wheelie. like I said we have crossed the line onto MAD SCIENCE from now on the project ownes me. I am completely powerless to change the direction of the things I have set in motion. I am cool for now, but I may need help in the future K

Thanks for sharing Kevin. I'm guess without wheelie bars that if the front end comes up to hard, it'll deslot? Very interesting idea. Phil, put some light poles up for the wheelie showdown .
