In shades of what happened to Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins Pro Stock Camaro in St. Louis during the mid 70's, the cars of Rapid Rick Voeglin have disappeared from their "trailer" boxes never to be seen again.
Jus kiddin Rick. (I sure hope! The Postman better not screw up now!)
We will do an ohm check on the winner in SS/A only. If the winner of SS/B or SS/C was cheating, they aren't very good at it or they would be in SS/A! (Joke, not insult... I won B/G at the last race remember. It's my one and only claim to fame.)
My goal is to pack all back up tomorrow night and mail on Tuesday. It's a goal and not guaranteed, but I do want them out of my possession and back into yours if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I think you really ticked Rick off with that. No, don't worry about it, I'm still kidding and I know Rick to be a stand up guy. We do that at every race just to be fair. Appreciate your entries, comments and interest.

Appreciate your entries, comments and interest. I guess I'm good at that...ticking people off that is. I hear if done it a few times so far. My mom told me being a smart a** wasn't a good thing.. never did listen to her. Come to think of it, maybe you should tech the 15 cars in front of me and DQ them all so I can win yeah....that's it! Sorry Rick I really was just wanted to know where that NOS bottle was hidden so I could do the same ;D

I arrived home late last night from a T-jet race in Wisconsin, and didn't kiss my wife or pet the cat before logging on to Psychoslots to get the S/S Spring Nationals results. Today I heard from Racemaster Phil that my white car had passed post-race inspection in the teardown barn. Whew!
First of all, many thanks to Phil and friends for hosting the S/S Spring Nationals. It takes a huge effort to organize and run a proxy race, and I certainly appreciate their efforts. Phil's former life as a 1:1 track operator certainly prepared him well for the role of HO ringmaster. I just wonder how many HO hot dogs and Cokes he sold at the big race.
I've had the privilege of visiting WDWAHO twice, and it was Phil who turned me on to Psychoslots.com. I believe the technical term for that is "enabler." WDWAHO is the Texas Motorplex of HO drag strips – my cars' elapsed times were more than a tenth of second quicker on his smooth, routed track than they were on my bumpy Tomy plastic test track.
Many thanks to 440gtx and Demon340 for their generous advice on front end weight, tires, and spring pressure. My initial setup for the test and tune was so far out in left field that I couldn't even see the ballpark. My cars wouldn't have cracked the 1-second barrier without their help. They are great sportsmen.
For what it's worth, here are the specs on the SS/A winner: Aurora G open-rivet chassis Aurora H gearplate, polished and lapped gears Aurora 16.8/16.8/16.8 ohm red wire armature (measured @ 73 degrees F), trued and balanced Aurora orange/green magnets, shimmed with vinyl tape Aurora 15-tooth crown gear Slottech shoes with stretched springs .210" x .450" black silicone slip-on rear tires Wizzard Delrin front wheels with .315" tires, .0635" axle JL Challenger body with 2.8 grams lead, .100" rear body spacer 23.8 grams total weight
The Spring Nationals was a blast, and I can't wait for the next race!
Cheers, Rick V.

Rick...Awesome job and thanks for posting a break down.. Maybe I can at least come close next time we meet up! You did a very impressive job on both cars. All this makes this a great hobby.
My 10 year old daughter saw me watching this online Saturday afternoon, and though she's been around me doing this all her life, she sat down next to me and asked me to show her how to build some cars... we spent the next two hours building her some cars for our next club race. And she did most of the work!
I haven't stopped smiling since
OH now I can take your secrets and be assured of beating her down the strip ;D

Thanks for sharing the info Rick.
I do believe the next race will be Gassers with possibly Rat Rods on the same bill.

SS/A Winner Rick Voegelin, California, qualified #2 (His #1 Q. car bit the dust in the semi-finals.) Runner Up 440GTX, Ohio, qualified #9 (His #4 Q. car bit the dust in the 1/4 finals.) SS/B Winner SKR aka Sam, Colorado, Qualified #1 Runner Up Thunderwreck, Missouri Qual. #2 SS/C Winner Tyler, Florida, Qualified#1 Runner up Shooter, Pennsylvania, Qualified #2 What this means is... Some of the Florida guys can drive! ah... slower cars?? (Aren't you glad you asked Demon?) Also note, the six winner/runner up's were from six different states! AND SS/A winner/runner up are from California and Ohio, the battle states in the old Gasser Wars of the 60's. Will it hold up next race with Gassers? Tune in to see! BE THERE! NO!! MAIL IT THERE!!!
