[what if we run copper clad chassis no modifications except slip on silicones that fit the stock hub and front end weight as stock .Super Stock rules the same as they are but use of AW and JL 500 chassis,Dash Magnets,a larger hub , slip on silicone as long as they don't stick out more than 1/8 inch beond the fenders. Used to jack the rear ends up with air shocks and stick some pretty wide tires back on the street in the late 60's till got tired of paying tickets for tires uncovered being a hazzard for throwing stones an things [/size]

On the topic of Stockers, I like what you have lined out Dave. One thing about rubber tires is that we will see guys soaking them in god knows what for extra bite. How about, no weight and the host supplies the stock tires that thye will put on before qualifying? Maybe everybody can kick in a few extra bucks to cover the cost? Just a thought.

I kinda favor the stock rubber tires here in stock class. After all I remember running a class at my local drag strip called pure stock. It was a class to get people interested in drag racing with out going into the black hole of debt. Basically you ran what ever the car came with from the factory. No modifications what so ever. So a stock copper bottom, rubber tired, 16 plus ohm stock motor spinning the wheels down the quarter mile will be just like running bias ply tires on your 454 Chevelle or 455 GTO or 440 GTX or 383 Charger or 428 429 F F F sorry tuff for me to say. OK here I go.. Fords. Ugh I have to brush my teeth now.
Sam using Dash magnets for S/S is a great idea. Every thing you said is true.

Since Rick( take no prisoners) is hosting ,what rules do they run for stock class there? I like the ideal of T-jet rubber and the track being able to replace the tires if tricked additives are suspected ,Just what about those who glue there tires to the rim to true them up ,or will this not be allowed ,maybe a NO truing of rims or tire addition to the rules..I would be O.K. with it . for SS Demon has a point( AN not those two on his head) might be time to open up tire choice little as long as a decent scale like appearance can be maintained. traction magnets O.K. Lead O.K. leave the wheelie bars off! What am I doing almost agreeing with DEMON ,next thing you know I will be showing up with a MOPAR [/size]

The Dog's 2 cent's on SS changes. I just got 10 new sets of Dash Magnets, I checked them on my GRD Magnet tester, and found only 3 good matches, 1 strong, 2 weak, the rest are trash for me. if you need to buy 10 sets of Dash magnets to get a few good maches, than just buy T Jet magnets for less than 1/2 the price.
As far as Stock Class.....there is a huge diffrence between Orignal T Jet tires made in the 60s, and newer AW tires made last year. The issue as I see it is confusion over what is legal.
This class is for new guys trying to break in to T Jet racing, they are going to buy a chassis, send it in with what ever tires come with it. That is a nightmere for the race host trying to get the cars down the track. Proxy Racing is different from club racing in that, at club racing you can expermant, and pick a tire that works. In proxy Racing a bunch of the racers don't have a timed track to test cars so they will send in whatever for tires. Personally I think we should just allow a skinny aftermarket silicone tire to be used. To me spinning the length of the track is funny in club racing, but a bad deal for a race host trying to run a clean event.
And I think we will have to allow some weight to keep the cars on the track.

What if stock tires were to be wiped down at host track with lighter fluid, thus removing any special treatments.

i think the tires should be RRR Narrows,they look good and have decent grip.on magnets i say t jet magnets for the low cost and if you want to try and match them up so be it,.My point is Stock Means Stock,and better tires for grip, they are narrow like the tjets just alittle better grip,and use tjet magnets,and,leave everything else alone,put a body on it and race. that to me is Stock Class,when you start shimming mags,and doing this and that ,its no longer Stock. Simply rules for stock,NOS Tjet Chassis,RRR Narrow tires,Orig Tjet magnets,No shimming magnets,No braids,or shunts.no balancing motors.Put a body on it and race and have fun. That will get Beginners in here to race....Just my two Cents Guys

Stock is stock. Stock wheels and tires. True them if you want. If the host feels there is additives on the tires then he should change them out. Even if they are glued on the wheels they will still come off.
or let the skinny silicone tires in and not worry about tire additives. Depending on voltage if there is no ballast allowed... it will be hard to keep the front end down with sillys anyways so a hard rubber might be a better choice?

Sounds good to me. Lets get a magnatraction class. (other than the 4 gear funny car). Run polymer magnets and some low ohm arms.

Just checked out the HODRA website and rule book for T-jet stock ,their rules are strictly cooper bottom chassis, Magnets stock , wheels an tires stock not even dune buggy or truck rims allowed , only non stock item allowed is JB thunder brushes.

Stock Magnatraction class is a great idea. The down force of the magnets is enough to hook up the car without adding weight or wheelie bars. I have STOCK magnatractions that are screamers.I also have a magnatraction with a mean green and slip on sillys that runs my 20' 6.25" track on 30 volts in under a second. When I put polys in it ,at an additional $11.00,there wasn't much of a difference in times.There is some wheel spin which will go away just by adding a rare earth magnet. (learned that trick from road racing).If we start swapping magnets then it becomes a wallet war. That to me is no fun.

More thoughts on T Jet Stock Class.
I don't consider tweaking pick up shape to be a modification, more of a tune up procedure. There are existing rules out there that adress this issue, that is, allowing some tweakage, but restricting any extreme tweaks. I'll see if the wording might suit us.
Shimming magnets is a tune up/blueprint procedure to my mind. It is also easily taught, and easily accomplished.
Trying to 'tech' tires would be a nightmare. I suggest allowing any tire that Properly fits a T jet original/AW/JL wheel or any palstic same profile wheel, (such as the T jet wheels sold By MEV) . There are currently two basic widths that fit T jet wheels available online, either by way of ebay or oline stores. (Weird Jack sells a couple of varieties.) The two sizes are "standard" T jet width' and a wide version that still fits the T jet wheel. Allowing only the skinny, or allowing either tire ( back to the 'properly fits' clause above) seems like a reasonable, easy to police, and inexpensive route.
Tire treatment done as builders modification is impossible to police. NO additives whatsoever would be allowed at the race venue, however. Any 'sticky' tires would require a cleaning.
Replacement brushes seem to be a reasonable tweak as well.
No balancing of armatures, i.e. no material subtracted or added to the armature assembly.
Permit ballast (added weight) The idea is to get consistent runners.
No wheelie bars.
No traction mags.
No Gear changes.
No Chassis cuts.
What else did i miss?
To sum up the only mods allowed would be
(1) adjust the pickups. (Pretty hard to police exact pick up shape)
(2) adjust brush springs. (Pretty much a necessary mod)
(4) Replacement brushes. (Old T Jet brushes may be bad)
(5) Shim magnets. (Good move to learn and simple to do)
(6) Silicone tires on plastic TJet/ JL / AW t jet type wheels.
(7) This last is likely to be controversial and is just my personal preference: Bodies restricted to Standard "TJET- Sized" models. I.E. the near 1/87 bodies not the closer to 1/72 or 1/64 bodies.
This would allow all appropriate Stock T jet bodies, all appropriate AW bodies that I am aware of, all appropriate JL bodies I am aware of, all appropriate MEV bodies I am aware of, some Dash Bodies, and a few other odds and ends from diverse suppliers.
To my way of thinking these are all tune-up moves, except for the slip on tires and the possible body limitation.
Just my thoughts, which of course, seem reasonable to me <>. Trying to sum up your ideas, while hopefully leading to a consensus or near consensus of thought.
