I was wondering if anyone had any news or updates on the Mead Bros. resin casting and decal workshop. Their websites have been "Closed for Remodeling" for several months now since, as I understand it, they got a nasty-gram from the resin and decal police. I really like their work and would like to order some decals, so any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rick V.

Hey Rick - cool pic of the Car Craft Super Mod Camaro. I wonder how many guys on this list remember it/identify it. Where's the pic taken? Indy? Hard to tell at that size! Any idea as to the whereabouts of the Camaro now? Gene(from HOWL)

Rick - What did Super Mod turn into, or did it disappear with Modified Eliminator(miss that class)? Any idea how many Mod Elim classes were flipped into Comp? I kinda miss a lot of the gassers and definitely the Modifieds. I remember a lot of Pro Stock guys running Modified or Altered classes with their P/S cars, and some like Butch Leal, just running older models in Modified. I seem to remember a 1965-ish Plymouth or Dodge California Flash sometime in the 70's. I also miss class racing on just regular Sundays, like when I was a kid, at Englishtown. Gene

Any idea as to the whereabouts of the Camaro now? Gene(from HOWL) Gene, That photo was taken at 1976 Fallnationals at Seattle International Raceway. That place had incredible bite back in the day -- the only track where we could put the Camaro on the back bumper with 10.5" tires! We parked the car after running the last-ever NHRA Modified eliminator race at the 1981 World Finals at OCIR. I was pretty upset with NHRA for killing Modified eliminator, and more than a little burned out on towing all over the country chasing points. I know exactly where the car is today: It's sitting in our barn, exactly like it was when we rolled if off the transporter in 1981. There's a photo album of the car on my Facebook page, showing past and present: www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=148683&id=531982768&l=6ec843a41aBack when we raced, there was a lot more interaction between the Pros and the sportsmen. We'd pit near guys like Warren Johnson, Reher-Morrison and Scott Shafiroff, and they became friends. We raced Butch Leal in the final round of Modified at 1976 Winternationals when he was running a Duster in B/Gas . . . he beat us with a better light. So nothing has really changed after 30 years: I'm still trying to beat those Mopars, just in HO scale now! <g> Thanks, Rick V.

Rick - I saw a Truppi-Kling Decal on the rocker panel. What relationship did you have with them, if any? When I was growing up in Dunellen, NJ, My next door neighbor was Jerry Stinner's father. Jerry was involved in that shop, my dad said he was a partner. I got to crawl all over some real cool trailered drag cars that Jerry would park in his dad's side yard - super stocks, stock eliminator cars, etc. Wow I wish I had a canera then. Gene

Gene Gene, My ex-partner, Norman Mayersohn, worked at Truppi-Kling while he was in college before he moved to California to work for CC. He built a S/S Chevelle via long distance, and T/K did the engine. I was also tight with Scott Shafiroff and Carl Bennett, who were using T/K motors in their Pro Stock Vega and SS/I Camaro respectively. Thanks to Mayersohn's connections, we got one of the first Truppi/Kling crank trigger ignitions for the Super Mod Camaro -- real high-tech stuff in 1976! I got to know Jerry Stinner when he and Tommy Kling were racing Pro Stock with Tom Martino. I heard that Ralph Truppi passed away a year or two ago. I only met him once when I visited the shop, and recall that he was quite a character (like most of the Jersey drag racing crowd <g>). There was a great group of hardcore racers who were based at Truppi-Kling: Ray Allen, Bernie Agaman, Claude Urevig, etc. That was truly a golden age for doorslammer drag racing. Thanks, Rick V.

There is a good selection of bodies at TraxsHobbies.com. I have gotten a few from them and they are pretty good.

And decals from hocustom.com. Mostly Nascar and road racing but can be used for drag racing too.

I have tried many different way's to contact the Mead brothers. Email, mailed letter to their post office box, even tried to contact them from their ebay seller id. No response either way. It's almost as if they fell of the face of the earth.
