One of the cool things about racing the NTRA mail-in series is that you never quite know what's going to come back. A box from Tom, aka Demon 340, arrived recently. After having the sniffer dogs and the bomb squad check it out, I opened it and found this very neat trophy from the Gator Nats Lite. I'm pretty sure that Tom made it, since his pal Psycho isn't allowed to have sharp objects. Inspired by Tom's creativity, I've been gathering up items on eBay for trophies to be awarded at the NTRA season finale at Lions Drag Strip on October 17. It turns out that the Lions Clubs gave out bronze lion figurines back in the '50s as merit awards, so I'll be using these and some other lion statues as the starting point for custom trophies for the inaugural race. On another note, I tested some four-gear chassis for the upcoming Nostalgia FC race. First impression: Wow, on 13.8 volts, these things are really slow! After running Gassers and Rat Rods on 20 volts, the four-gear FCs look like they have the brakes on. At least it will be fun to watch the races because holeshots and top-end charges will be visible. Second impression: Auto World has hit a new low on quality. I didn't think it was possible for them to make worse parts than my last batch of JLs, but the armatures and gears in the four-gear chassis I bought are unbelievably bad. If AW is going to use these in the new drag strip sets, it could turn off a lot of new racers. Finally, the custom work done by Sam on his Summit Racing Pro Stock and Hilltop on his '57 Chevy Pro Mod is simply amazing. Great job, guys! Cheers, Rick V.

Hey thanks guys. Yeah my therapist said I was one sick puppy when I walked in with a chain saw. I think it all started when I was a kid and builded model cars and planes and what ever other cool plastic models out there. You know the glue back then was really good and strong. Then there's the deal with the NOS bottle leaking in the car that maybe some of my problem of not being right in the head. ;D Hey Sam the Holy water didn't work. At Christmas I make some cute stuff. But Halloween I make some sick stuff. Maybe some day I'll sent Sam some pic.s and he can post the one's that won't scare you guy's. DEMON
