I got a AW chassis with a Duke of Hazzard car. Also getting a four gear I believe with the S'cool bus. I am wanting to know how to hop these up for drag racing. Thank you. Jody

The Auto World chassis is already a somewhat souped up version of the T Jet. It is virtually the same chassis as the Johnny Lightning chassis, which in turn was patterned after the AURORA "tuff Ones" chassis. It has a "higher" (lower ratio) Final drive for more top speed, and the JL/AW Magnets are very stout. The tires have to go. Slip on silicones will make a world of difference for a cheap and easy fix. From there, other than tuning, you would want to swap in a hotter armature. I built one of last years Gassers on a JL chassis and used a mean green arm. I can't remember if I had to ream the armature shaft opening in the top plate and chassis or not. The mean Green Arm or the Aurora Blue Drag arm would both yield improvements. From there you get a bit pricey with custom arms and polymer magnets.

I think the AW chassis for the Duke's cars is a X-traction. Along with the mean green armature and the silicone tires, try wizzard brushes or JB Thunderbrushes. Also replace the stock AW pick-up shoes with the silver long step Aurora AFX shoes.
On the mean green arm, the higher the voltage the more difference it will make. At 13.8v I have x-tractions with stock arms that will keep up with mean greens. At 25.6v the mean green blows the stock AW arm away.
