What would be the best material, wood, mdf, or factory plastic track to make a "home" track out of? What is the normal width of the spacing of the lanes and the overall width of the track? Because of budget, I am leaning towards plastic track. What manufacture would be the best IF I went plastic?
Thanks,
Charley

maxtraxracing.com has a 1/4 mi dragstrip. It's a bit pricey at $575 but it saves the headache of having to build it yourself. There's quite a few using mdf. Thats what I was going to build mine from, but I bought a slotcarsinc track before they went under.

I built mine from a surplus pack of wood floor laminate Each section is about 1390mm long x 190mm wide. The locking tongue/groove joints on each end are really handy to hold the sections together squarely, and a pack of 12 only cost me $10 (only needed 6 sections for a 1/64 strip). There's pics of the build on SlotcarIllustrated.com , same username.
